2 FATALITIES YESTERDAY on the STE.
Two people were killed following an accident on Interstate 86 East involving a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle.

The accident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 86 East in the Town of Nichols on Monday.

Both vehicles were traveling on I-86 East when the tractor trailer rear-ended the passenger car.

Two people in the car were pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.

The WEBO Morning Show was pleased to welcome Christine Shaver from Tioga Opportunities, Inc., They are celebrating their 60th Anniversary with a party being held this Saturday, September 13th from 11am-2pm at the Countryside Community Center located at 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd in Owego. The event is free and will feature food, ice cream, a physics bus, family reading partnerships (with kids getting a free book), minature ponies, birds of prey, kids crafts, a dunk tank, and the Owego Police Dept. There will also be Live music with DJ Bob Russell.

Update - This was reopened at 621 am this morning .

Crash on NY 96 both directions at 486 Spencer RD (Candor) all lanes of 2 lanes closed Tioga 911 called about a MVA on 96, Candor, cross road is Gridleyville crossing RD. DOT supervisor dispatched. Detour 96 to Gridleyville crossing RD to West candor RD toTallowhill RD to 96

Rt 17 Eastbound has reopened to traffic.
Nichols Fire Department Chief Ray Thetga has confirmed that a tractor trailer and vehicle collision occurred around 436 am this morning on State Route 17 Eastbound between the exit 61 and 62. He also confirmed 2 fatalities in the car. Following the collision, the tractor trailer left the road but remained upright. State Police are currently investigating, and will release further information when it becomes available.
