Episode 43 with Liz Adams is now live on Spotify!

In this episode, I get the pleasure of visiting with Liz Adams. When Dutchgirl wrestling became an official girl's sport at our school, Liz was a Freshman. She was part of the very first group to ever wrestle all four years as a high school Dutchgirl. Her story has many ups and downs, and she had to face something that most high schoolers do not face during their time in high school; the loss of a parent. However, through the ups and downs, she maintained her focus and commitment to her goals. Her maturity and dedication through adversity was very admirable. I, along with so many others, am so proud of her!

Wrestling wasn't the only sport that defined Liz's high school career. She was a 4 year volleyball player, ran track, and even played soccer one year. From the time she was little, she loved participating in sports and athletics. Her time during her high school years was very much dedicated to training for sports all year round. She is a great example for younger Dutchgirl athletes, and she is also already trying to give back by helping train younger aspiring Dutchgirl wrestlers. We are so proud of you Liz, and we are so excited to watch the next chapter of your journey unfold wrestling at William Woods. Someday, I hope to move from calling Liz a former student to a coworker, as she has plans to come back and be a teacher and coach!

Episode 42 with Brynn Wright is now live on spotify!

In this episode, I get to visit with Brynn Wright. It was an absolute blast getting to be one of Brynn's teachers and also getting to watch her compete in sports in high school. Her positive attitude and strong desire to be involved and make the things around her better are things I will always appreciate and admire about her.

Her story is incredibly unique because she fought through so many injuries and was able to persevere. Basketball is her favorite sport, but it took a long time for her to be able to get on the court for games. Her Senior year was a special one, and on the basketball court she was a menace for opposing teams. She made plays on both ends of the floor and was always trying to help her team win in whatever way she could.

Her journey in high school led her to try quite a few sports. She found great success in track and then later cross-country as well. Overall, her contributions to OHS athletics were extensive, and she helped to inspire and set the example for the next generation of OHS athletes!

Brynn will attend the University of Missouri (Mizzou) this fall. I am excited to see the next part of her journey!

Episode 41 with Ilene Limberg is now live on spotify!

In this episode, I sit down with one of the all-time greatest athletes in OHS history, Ilene Limberg. I think a very strong argument could be made for her being the GOAT.

Her story is incredible, and her journey thus far is nothing short of admirable. When it comes to the running world, there are no shortcuts to greatness. You get what you give. If you make the decision to give and give and give, then mix that with some natural talent, good coaching, and the right attitude you get Ilene. Her success was well earned!

In this podcast, she recounts growing up and playing games in the yard with her siblings, to getting her start in cross country/track in middle school, and then finally her high school years and post-high school thus far. She will be starting her collegiate career at Maryville University this fall where she is majoring in Physical Therapy and will be running Cross Country and Track.

She is humble and has done things the right way. Truly, she is a great example for all future athletes. I am so proud of Ilene and so excited to see what her future holds!

Episode 40 with Emily Nichols is now live on Spotify!

In this episode, I sit down with my first former student to become a co-worker. I am so proud of Emily Nichols and I'm so excited for her to begin her journey as a first-year teacher at OMS. Emily was in my Accounting class her junior year, and now just 2 years following graduation she has positioned herself as a teacher in the district she graduated from. This was not an easy accomplishment and it took an incredible amount of dedication. She made it happen, and in this episode you will hear how she did it.

Also, Emily is one of the biggest fans of the podcast, and quite possibly the biggest! She has listened to all the episodes and some more than once. She has been so supportive of the podcast and has had so many nice things to say about it. I am thankful for Emily!

Huge shoutout and thanks to Shane Nicks for joining me on the Now Ahring Podcast!

In this episode I sit down with a great friend of mine, Shane Nicks. Literally and figuritively people in our community look up to Shane. He was an excellent and involved student at OHS and a key member of the 20 win 2009 OHS Basketball team. Shane went to college at UCM in Warrensburg and currently works in the field of Agri-Business. Shane is one of the nicest people you will ever meet!

This episode is a video podcast and is available on both YouTube and Spotify. I have decided to grow a YouTube channel with a few ideas that I have and I figured now that I have the means to video the podcast I would give it a shot. It will improve a lot as time goes on, BUT this is the first one! Have to start somewhere.

Episode 37 is now up on Spotify! This is my first story time episode where I tell a story about how I tried to climb a mountain with some of my friends. It is a story about how I was an idiot and unprepared. Laugh at my stupidity, and don’t make the same mistakes as me!

Big thanks to Ethan for coming up to OHS and speaking with two of my classes about opportunities within the US Military, his story, and the ROTC program in particular. After school was over as the snow was falling we sat down to record this podcast. I really enjoy hearing stories and learning about my friends that are service members. He has had an incredible journey and I am proud to call him a friend!
