ATTENTION Community Members and Business Owners!! We have a group of students that are taking on a service project to restore and beautify our old tennis courts! They have created a video for you and after presenting at the school board and parks/recreation board meetings, they have been approved to fundraise for this community project! Please consider donating below! We already have a couple large donations and some will even match what they raise! These kids want our community to have a safe place to play pickleball and tennis along with bringing tennis and future pickleball teams to BCHS!! Any amount will help them out! Thank you so much!!! We’ve received several questions regarding Rowan Alert / Everbridge notifications from yesterday’s storms.

Yesterday, no National Weather Service warning polygons were issued directly for Rowan County. Warnings remained primarily to our west and south, so Rowan Alert did not send warning notifications within Rowan County. Since the system went live in May, Rowan County has fortunately not yet had a warning polygon issued requiring an alert activation.

The system operated as intended.

It is important to remember that neighboring counties may receive warnings while Rowan County does not. Seeing warnings nearby on television, social media, or weather apps does not always mean Rowan County itself is under a warning.

We encourage residents to use multiple ways to receive weather information, including:
• Rowan Alert
• NOAA Weather Radios
• Trusted weather apps
• Local media

If you do not feel your residence is a safe place to shelter during severe weather, please make arrangements ahead of time to stay with a friend, family member, or someone else with a safer structure before storms arrive.

We appreciate everyone’s feedback as we continue improving emergency communications within Rowan County.

16th Region Baseball Update!!!

16th region baseball semi-final games have been postponed till Friday, 5/29 due to weather and unsafe field conditions at Bath County and Rowan County. We have received over 3.5 inches of rain here since last night.

Games on Friday, 5/29 will be hosted at Bath County assuming the field is in a playable condition. As of right now the schedule is as follows:

Semi-Finals @ Bath County
Friday, May 29th:
5:30pm- Rowan vs Ashland
8:00pm- East Carter vs Boyd

Championship @ Bath County
Saturday, May 30th:
2:30pm- Winner of Rowan/Ashland vs Winner of East/Boyd
