We love celebrating the special moments that make Oxford such a unique and connected community. Recently, friends and family gathered at Big Bad Breakfast and Snackbar to honor Chef Vishwesh Bhatt with a Bon Voyage Party before his move to Washington D.C.

The evening was filled with laughter, good food, and heartfelt farewells as Oxford came together to celebrate Vish’s incredible talent and lasting impact on our local dining scene. From the oysters and star chandeliers to the warm company of so many familiar faces, it was a night that perfectly reflected the community spirit of Oxford.

We wish Chef Vish all the best on his new journey—Oxford will always be cheering for you!

This month’s Oxford Setlist highlights the journey of Bobby Joyner, the lead singer of Mustache The Band. From his early days in Oxford’s music scene to chasing his dream in Los Angeles, Joyner’s path has been one of resilience, passion, and a love for music that never faded.

Now back home in Mississippi, Bobby has found his rhythm leading Mustache The Band—a group that’s captured fans with high-energy covers of classic ’90s country songs. Known on stage as “Alan Johnson” (a nod to Alan Jackson’s “Chattahoochee”), Joyner brings both nostalgia and fun to every performance.

His story is a reminder that no matter the detours, sometimes life leads you exactly where you’re meant to be—bright lights, cowboy hats, life preservers, and all. 🤠🎤

🎨 Oxford Living – Arts & Culture Section 🎨

This month we’re spotlighting Southside Gallery’s Plein Air Exhibition, a stunning group showcase featuring works from the University of Mississippi’s Plein Air Painting Class led by Professor Philip R. Jackson.

Held on May 22, 2025, this event brought together students from UM’s summer intersession course who displayed their paintings and connected with the Oxford community. From vibrant landscapes to creative interpretations of Oxford’s surroundings, the gallery was filled with inspiration and talent.

🍸 Hidden Treasures of Oxford: Iron Bartender 🍸

One of Oxford’s favorite annual events, the Iron Bartender, has grown into much more than a cocktail competition — it’s now the kickoff for Bit of the Sip, a weekend-long celebration of food, drinks, and community.

This year’s event welcomed 22 competitors, with bartenders from Oxford and across Mississippi showing off their creativity and skill. From mocktail meet-ups to farm tours and even yoga, the weekend offered locals and visitors a taste of everything Oxford has to offer.

👏 Congratulations to this year’s winners:
• Maddie Cate (Jinsei) – Iron Bartender Champion
• Brian Latch (Snackbar) – Bartender’s Choice
• Dalton Landrum (Saint Leo) – People’s Choice
• Everest Benson (Apothecary Bar) – Out of Town Award

With proceeds supporting the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council (YAC), the event raised nearly $20,000 to help fund local arts programs and community events.
