Drury vs Louisville - Sep 12/13
Drury continued an undefeated start to their season this past weekend with a sweep against the University of Louisville.
Drury faced a Cardinals team that is playing its first year in Division One.
They are 2-2 so far this season with a sweep of Northern Illinois University.
Game One
Captain KT Walters and newcomer Tyson Horiachka each scored two goals during a 4-1 win. These were Horiachka’s first goals as a Panther.
Another newcomer, Lukas Ravenstein, saw his first start as a Panther.
Lines looked interesting for Drury with a rotating forward line that had Jamison St Clair, Ethan O’Rourke, Horiachka, and Jackson Truchan. This was a successful line with two goals and an assist coming from those three.
Drury was called for four penalties, two fewer than Louisville.
Both goalies had impressive save percentages. Louisville goalie Luke Brzezinski had a .937 save percentage with 63 shots on goal. In comparison, Jozef Kuchaslo had .947 with 19 shots.
Game Two
It was a different game on Saturday with Drury’s 5-3 win. A wide-open first period ended in a 2-2 tie.
Points were more evenly distributed across the Panthers, with each of the goals coming from different players.
Horiachka had two assists, and Francis Young-Menard had a goal and an assist.
Drury took more penalties in game two, with Jameson getting sent to the box twice for cross-checking and slashing.
Jozef Kuchaslo had 19 shots on goal again, while Louisville's goalie, Ryan Melanson, saw 45.
After their second game weekend, only nine players on Drury's 28-man roster remain pointless, including the three goaltenders.
Luke Aston leads the team in points with two goals and four assists.
The Panthers have an impressive offense with a total of 108 total shots on goal just this weekend.
Even when they are down players due to penalties, they still manage to play spectacularly. Drury ended up in 4-on-4 situations four times, and there was a singular power play goal for the whole weekend.
