Everyone’s talking about getting MORE protein. But more isn’t always better.
As we age, protein matters because our bodies become less efficient at rebuilding muscle. But that doesn’t mean piling more and more onto every meal.
Cassie Dimmick’s approach is simpler: get enough, get it from real food, and spread it throughout the day.
Because it’s not just how much protein you eat. It’s when you eat it, too.
Swipe through for the full breakdown , and save this one for the next time your algorithm tells you to add another scoop of protein powder.

Save this for when you need it!💌

Plot twist: it’s not just about HOW MUCH protein, it’s about WHEN. ⏰
Most people barely eat any at breakfast (one egg = 7g... you do the math) then slam 70g at dinner your body can’t even use. Spread it out, people: breakfast, lunch, dinner, post-workout. Your muscles will thank you.

That’s the series. Which meal is your weak spot, let’s be honest 👇

Taking a supplement just because your labs are a little off? Cassie says she usually starts somewhere else: food.
Food + exercise are the foundation. Supplements are there to supplement that foundation when there’s actually a reason for them.
And if you do need one? Be picky.
Look for independently tested products, pay attention to what’s actually in them, and don’t assume a giant powder with 12 different ingredients is automatically better.
Sometimes simpler really is better.💌

The truth about protein powder nobody’s selling you: you probably don’t need it. Past your daily target, extra protein isn’t helping, it’s just crowding out other stuff your body needs. And the more processed it gets, the more room there is for junk you didn’t sign up for. Real food does the job. No scoop required.

Getting vitamin D does NOT mean spending hours baking in the sun. ☀️
Cassie’s approach is more balanced: some sun exposure can contribute to vitamin D, but more isn’t automatically better.
There’s no perfect amount for everyone. Your skin, risk factors, vitamin D levels and family history can change the equation. And if sun exposure isn’t right for you? Vitamin D can also come from food and supplements.
The takeaway: vitamin D matters. So does protecting your skin.

Save this for the next time you’re trying to balance vitamin D and sun protection. ☀️

Yeah, we said it. Your body can only use so much; the rest just goes to waste. As you age, you do need more because muscle rebuilding gets harder, but the sweet spot is way lower than the protein bro internet wants you to believe. Example: 1g per pound. That’s it. 🥑 🥛 🍫

Watch out for part 2 in the "Protein: you're doing it all wrong" series.

Forgetting names happens to everyone, but there’s a simple trick that actually works: make an association. Think of someone else you know with that name, or a celebrity. Beyond that, memory support comes in two flavors: external strategies (phone alarms, calendars, sticky notes) and internal strategies (repetition, saying the name back to yourself). The real goal? Keep giving your brain something to work for. That’s what keeps it sharp as you age. 🧠

Staying active in retirement isn’t just about the body, your brain needs the same kind of consistency. Puzzles, crosswords, Sudoku, learning a new skill, staying social... it all counts. Even the basics matter: eating well, staying hydrated, and making sure your medications are dialed in right. Small, everyday habits add up to a sharper mind. What’s one thing you do to keep your brain active?

Heartburn isn’t just a “pop a Tums and move on” thing, it can actually be a sign your body’s asking for a diet and habit check. Coffee, tomatoes, and spicy food are common triggers, but timing matters just as much as what you eat. Lying down too soon after eating? Gravity is working against you. Give yourself at least 30 minutes upright after a meal, an hour or two is even better. Small shift, big difference. 💯 🙌 👀
