For Texans walking the road to a healthier life, the journey begins with a single step... Walk Across Texas! (WAT!) Adult is an eight-week program designed to help Texans establish the habit of regular physical activity using a fun and motivating team approach. Each adult team may include up to 8 members working towards the goal of 832 miles!

OHS Basketball Games at Sterling City scheduled for today (Jan. 30) have been CANCELLED! The games will be rescheduled for Thursday! We will post updates as they become available!

In anticipation of slick road conditions, CCCCSD will have a 10 am start to classes for Tuesday, January 31, and Wednesday, February 1. Buses will run two hours late for the 10 am start. We will keep you posted on any changes.

Crockett County Emergency Services are working two vehicle accidents north of Ozona on Highway 163. Be safe and watch out for slick roads!

Good morning! We've already received multiple reports of slick roads and accidents across the area. We are currently at 25 degrees here at the San Angelo Airport with a light glazing of ice on cars and elevated surfaces. Please exercise caution if you are on the roads this morning especially the bridges and overpasses!

Crockett County and most of the Concho Valley is under a Winter Weather Advisory until noon today (Jan. 30). That will turn into a Winter Storm Warning from noon today (Jan. 30) until 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1. We will update you on any delays or cancellations if they happen!

GAME TIME CHANGES AGAIN: Varsity teams only on Monday due to weather!

Just a quick reminder, a cold front will be moving through on Sunday, which will bring colder and wetter conditions early next week. We could see a light wintry mix here beginning on Monday morning and continue through Wednesday morning. We could see some ice accumulations (freezing rain) create hazardous road conditions, especially across the Big Country. Right now, there is still quite a bit of uncertainty, so please check back for updates.

With the freezing temperatures coming next week, it's never too early to start preparing/learning. Bridges and overpasses are particularly dangerous during icing situations, as they typically freeze before flat roads. Bridges can become surrounded by cold air, allowing them to lose heat from every side. Whereas flat roads only lose heat upward and have the ground below them, which can trap heat. Make sure to keep yourself updated on the forecast over the next week and drive carefully, especially over bridges, if we get freezing rain.

Today and tonight should be a little warmer, bringing our highs back up to around normal after below-normal temperatures all this week. If you're a warm-weather person, I would soak up the weather today and tomorrow before things start to get chilly again next week.

Both senior boys and girls will be recognized at the same time tonight. They will be announced before the girls game; parents please gather in the hospitality room at 5:45 pm. There will be refreshments provided by the booster club. If you have any questions, please call Janis at the high school. She knows everything.
