The older I get, the harder I find it to be in big crowds. So finding this little dog-friendly hidden gem honestly felt like a breath of fresh air. Being outside in nature is my happy place, especially when Archie’s enjoying it as much as I am! 🌻

The Neighborhood Church Stafford sunflower festival is perfect if you want to enjoy the flowers without all the crowds. And yes, you can visit the sweetest little baby goats too!

Entry is just $5, parking is free, and leashed pets are welcome. Hurry up, the festival ends on August 23rd.

We loved our time in Whistler so much that we had to share a few of our favorite places and experiences for anyone planning a visit. Save this list for your next trip!

• Stay at Fairmont Chateau Whistler
• Swim at Lost Lake
• Ride the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola
• Brave the Cloudraker Skybridge
• Enjoy breakfast or dinner at The Wildflower
• Grab a pastry from purebread
• Get coffee at % ΔRΔBICΔ Canada
• Hike to Nairn Falls
• Stop for coffee and lunch at Cranked Espresso Bar
• Wander through Whistler Village
• Have dinner at Wild Blue Restaurant + Bar
• Walk the golf course trail and keep an eye out for bears!

A bonus for anyone traveling with their pup: all the restaurants and cafés on our list had dog-friendly patios when we visited.

If your dog asks you to dance, you dance.

The older I get, the less I worry about looking silly and the more I care about actually enjoying my life.

Because life is way too short to stand on the sidelines wondering what other people might think.

Dance with your dog. Make the memory. Laugh at yourself. Be the person having the most fun, even if you embarrass yourself regularly.

I’d rather look ridiculous and be happy than look composed and miss the moment.

I think dogs may be more spoiled at Fairmont Chateau Whistler than we are! 🐾

Archie was welcomed with love and treats the moment we checked in, which, of course, immediately won him over.

When we got to our room, even more surprises were waiting for him: his own cozy bed, food and water bowls, FirstMate & Kasiks Pet Foods, treats, and the cutest stuffed puppy modeled after the hotel’s canine ambassador…who also happens to be named Archie!

Sadly, the two Archies didn’t get to meet while we were there, so I guess we have a pretty good reason to go back.

We also loved that Archie could ride the hotel shuttle with us to and from Whistler Village. It made getting around together so easy. And with breathtaking mountain views, an abundance of nature, and beautiful trails right outside the hotel door, there was just as much for him to enjoy outdoors.

This is exactly the kind of hotel we love sharing, a place that doesn’t simply allow dogs but makes them feel genuinely welcome. With thoughtful amenities, easy transportation, and endless outdoor adventures at its doorstep, Fairmont Chateau Whistler has pretty much everything we could ask for in a dog-friendly hotel.

Some places become part of your story.

For my birthday, we decided to come back to Fairmont Château Whistler, a place that means more to me than just a beautiful hotel.

The last time I was here was in 2017 with Scout. It was one of our very first hotel collaborations, and we made memories I’ll always treasure.

Coming back without him was emotional, but it also felt right.

One of the greatest gifts Archie has given me is the chance to experience some of those special places again. Not to replace the memories I made with Scout, because nothing ever could, but to create new ones while carrying the old ones with me.

For this trip, we decided to splurge on Fairmont Gold, and it has been such a wonderful experience. While the Gold level isn’t pet-friendly, they were welcoming and accommodating to Archie as my Service Dog, and I truly appreciated how ADA-aware the team was throughout our stay.

If you’re looking for a mountain escape, Fairmont Whistler is one of Canada’s most iconic dog-friendly hotels, with beautiful grounds, easy access to Whistler Village, and so much to explore right outside the door.

24 Hours in Lynden, Washington

If you’re looking for a charming small town with Dutch architecture, flower-filled streets, local shops, and incredible food, Lynden deserves a spot on your Pacific Northwest road trip.

Here’s exactly how I’d spend 24 hours.

Check in; We stayed The Inn At Lynden , a beautifully restored historic hotel right in the heart of downtown. One of my favorite parts? You can simply park your car and explore on foot.

Note: Inn at Lynden is ADA-aware and accessible, but it is not dog-friendly.

Coffee & Breakfast; Start your morning at Avenue Bread | Bakery & Cafe in Bellingham & Lynden for coffee and breakfast before wandering downtown.

Explore; Take your time strolling the streets.

Don’t miss:
• the local museum
* the iconic Lynden sign
* Dutch-inspired architecture
* boutique shops
* beautiful hanging flower baskets
* murals and charming storefronts
• walks or biking along the front street

Lunch; Head back to Avenue Bread (or another downtown café) for a relaxed lunch before continuing to browse the shops.

Dinner; For dinner, grab a table on the dog-friendly patio at Rustler’s Rooste Steakhouse on Front Street Grill. It’s a great way to end the day while enjoying the atmosphere of downtown.

Before You Leave; Take one more walk through town in the evening. Lynden feels especially peaceful as the day winds down, and it’s easy to see why so many people fall in love with this little Washington town.

If you’re traveling with your dog, there is also a dog-friendly hotel in town, so you don’t have to miss out on experiencing this charming little community.
