In case we haven’t met yet, I’m Karla, the designer behind Sky of Blue. Approximately 2 years ago I opened my letterpress / design studio & shop with a dream of pivoting from a mostly wholesale greeting card business (don’t worry - still shipping to shops nationwide!) to building a custom wedding invitation atelier and creative workshop space. I studied a book on Ikigai, the Japanese concept of finding your purpose in life – the intersection of what you love and what the world needs (see next slide for a graphic I found by Justin Wright which beautifully illustrates this concept). This really helped set things into motion. 🙌🏼

I knew I could offer joyful experiences to my customers. If I could build it, they would come. Things organically fell into place. Bridal clients & workshop participants started spreading the word. The wedding invitation part grew quickly this year, with 2025 booking up, and well on the way for 2026. At the same time the workshops, which had a gentle start, began filling up.
