Your relationship with God matters
So many people will fulfill the prophecy in Matthew 7
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Matthew 7:21-23
And so many people ask the question "how do I know I'm going to heaven? "
And these things go hand in hand!
Having a relationship with God/Jesus/ Holy Spirit, is so vitally important, because so many do things outwardly but on the inside they are struggling, they don't pray, they don't read their Bible, and outwardly they are the perfect Christians they have the perfect Christian life, and what they do in secret is their downfall, watching p**n, ma********ng reading erotica cheating on their significant other getting wasted, homosexuality, or even making idols out of social media doing things that may not even be bad, but when you put them above God it becomes a idolatry.
What you do in secret you will bear fruit of Matthew 6 says this
But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Matthew 6:6
What you do in secret God shall see, and you shall either the rewarded, the the opposite will be done, you will punish yourself unknowingly, or maybe you do know what you are doing, and you may not care, but if you are a true follower of Christ you will care.
So begs the question still how do we know we are going to heaven, so I will answer this with a question, do you know God, and does God know you?
This becomes another question out of the mouth of so many people "how do I know if I know God, and if he knows me? " well. How do you know if you know someone else?
You know their character, you know how they act, you know their voice, you know about them, you talk to them, and they talk to you.
His sheep know his voice.
So here another question people will ask: "if I don't have a relationship with God how do I get one? "
Well, how do you get to know another person?
You talk to them, you speak to them, they speak to you. So how would you get to know God then?
You talk to him, you let him speak to you(you listen for his voice, ask him to speak to you ect.)
You read the Bible, you have a relationship with him not just in public but in private to.
And a relationship is something that takes upkeep you can't just pray once and say "I have a relationship with God! " it takes upkeep to have a relationship with Him, daily upkeep, you need to have a daily relationship with your Lord and Savior!
The assurance of salvation is in your relationship with Christ.
