Beautiful witches will be like “i baked a cake”
and you’ll say “oh? what flavor is it”
and they’ll say well it’s a wild desert honey sagebrush lavender chamomile rosehip juniper berry almond cake with notes of toasted pecan and vanilla bean… soaked in a light herbal syrup and layered with spiced apple butter and blackberry preserves
finished with whipped honey chèvre cream, a hint of lemon thyme, and a dusting of cinnamon and cardamom
and maybe there’s a loaf of warm sourdough on the table, a pot of tea steeping slow, and little jars of herbs lined up like quiet magic
and suddenly you’re not just eating…
you’re wandering through a high desert garden—wind in the sage, sun low and golden, everything dry and alive and humming with its own kind of medicine
like… ok.
i want to spend the rest of my afternoons here—
in this kitchen, this garden, this magic 🌾✨
Have a magical Monday 🍄🌞

Squash doesn't need empty ground beneath its sprawling vines — and it thrives with company.
The space under broad leaves can support companions that fix nitrogen, draw pollinators, trap pests, and keep soil shaded, all while squash reaches across the bed.

- Nasturtium — Zones 3–10
Acts as a trap crop, drawing squash bugs, aphids, and cucumber beetles away from vines.

- Marigold — Zones 2–11
Deters squash bugs and vine borers with strong scent while attracting beneficial predators.

- Borage — Zones 3–10
Attracts pollinators to squash flowers and improves pollination rates for better fruit set.

- Radish — Zones 2–11
Breaks up compacted soil with taproots and harvests early before squash vines spread wide.

- Bush Beans — Zones 3–10
Fix nitrogen in soil, feeding heavy-feeding squash plants naturally throughout the season.

- Garlic — Zones 3–9
Natural fungicide that helps prevent powdery mildew on squash leaves.

- Oregano — Zones 5–9
Low-growing aromatic mat that repels pests and tolerates deep shade as vines expand.

- Dill — Zones 2–11
Attracts lacewings, hoverflies, and parasitic wasps that control squash bug eggs and aphids.

- Calendula — Zones 2–11
Draws beneficial insects and adds bright color beneath green squash foliage.

- Sweet Alyssum — Zones 5–9
Honey-scented groundcover that attracts tiny parasitic wasps and ground beetles.

- Lettuce — Zones 2–9
Quick-growing greens that thrive in the cool shade created by squash leaves.

- Thyme — Zones 4–9
Fragrant mat that covers soil, reduces weeds, and deters squash vine borers.

When squash vines are underplanted with purpose, the entire bed becomes a productive ecosystem instead of a pest magnet.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜: 𝐘𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐲 🕯️ ☕
At the Bewitchen Kitchen, we know that the best things take time to steep.
Yule marks the Winter Solstice—the longest night of the year. While the world outside feels frozen, this is the moment the light begins its quiet return. Energetically, Yule isn't about the "hustle" of the holiday season; it’s about trusting the seeds already sleeping beneath the frost.
Think of Yule as the "compost" of the year. It is the rich, dark quiet where old cycles break down to feed the new growth of spring.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐘𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐔𝐬
✨ The Beauty of the Bare Branch: Letting go of what no longer serves.
✨ The Rebirth of Light: Small sparks of hope in the darkness.
✨ Root-Work: Focusing on what’s happening out of sight.
✨ Faith in the Cycle: Knowing the sun will return.
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞
You don’t need an elaborate ceremony to honor this threshold. In the spirit of the Herbary, try these simple, grounding acts:
🌿 Brew a "Vision Tea": Steep rosemary for remembrance and cinnamon for warmth. As the steam rises, breathe in your intentions for the coming year.
🕯️ Feed the Flame: Light a single gold or white candle to represent the returning sun. Let it sit on your table as you dine or work.
🌲 Bring the Outside In: Adorn your space with cedar, pine, or dried orange slices. These evergreens remind us that life persists even in the depths of winter.
🧹 Clear the Hearth: Gently tidy your kitchen or workspace. Clear the physical dust to make room for fresh energy.
𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
For the Visionary Entrepreneur
In business, we are often told to be "loud" to be seen. But Yule manifestations don't shout—they root. This is the time to decide what you trust enough to plant in the dark.
Try this "Kitchen Witch" Ritual:
Sit with a warm mug and a pen.
Write down the "seeds" you are planting for your business in 2026.
Instead of focusing on numbers, focus on the texture: How does your work feel? Who are you nourishing?
Ask yourself: What am I willing to nurture quietly before the world sees it?
𝐀 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧
If things feel slow, quiet, or "underground" right now, you aren't behind.
You are in the dark by design. Like a seed in the winter soil, you are gathering the nutrients you need to bloom when the time is right. Your desires are already on their way. Your only job right now is to hold the vision and tend the flame.
Blessed Yule from our Garden to yours. ✨
May what you’re calling in grow strong in the unseen.
Blessings, Love & Prosperity❤️
