This is one of my favorite photos of and I. It was taken back in 2010 on first deployment which was to help with the earthquake in Haiti. This photo captures the essence of who Paul is as a human.

The lady on the stretcher was in a tremendous amount of pain. Her leg was so mangled from the earthquake that every time her leg was shifted she would scream. We were out in the middle of a filed in one of the poorest countries in the world with little to no medical supplies available for the 100's of 1000's of people affected by the earthquake.

It took about 5 of us to move her as gently as possible onto the stretcher. I'll always remember the look of fear in her eyes... the poor lady had already been through hell and she knew that if we moved her it would mean more pain. But we had to move her.

When we got her on the stretcher, she was so light that myself and the guy at the other end could easily carry her.

Paul walked next to her the entire way across the field (approximately 150 yards). He was like a faithful guard dog and never left her side as we made the journey. He felt for her and wanted to make sure she got to where she needed to go as safely as possible.

People ask me, "what was Paul Walker like," my reply is usually: he cared for people and about people... he cared a lot.
