Helping kids stay organized is key. To help in bedrooms with toys these bins are wonderful. I have also found hard bins that you can place labels so your child knows exactly where they go. This will help during clean up and playtime. I know my kids get a toy on their mind and can’t find it. This can help them find toys they are looking for.

Let’s talk about cleaning up.
Kids can get overwhelmed quickly. They see a big mess and no idea what to do.
Let’s add if they have to take it from one room to another room. The task becomes completely overwhelming. They just stare and no idea what to do.
Give them something small to put items in. This way they feel like they don’t make as many trips plus it helps them to stay organized.
I started this when my boys was younger. Now as soon as I say clean they look around and grab something they can use to help them clean.

When my oldest was younger I always wondered if he would become independent. When he was 11 we started baseball. That’s when it happened. He gets his equipment and uniform without being told. He will ask when he has a game to prepare.
Parents being independent will happen. Keep working with them. Each kid is different but being independent will happen in their time.

Homeschool hub:
Home school is becoming more and more of the norm for parents. The reality is some parents don’t have the option to homeschool. Parent have to work full time.
Parents with children that need extra support find it extremely difficult to find the right place for their child. Finding the right place is stressful.
Many parents have started turning towards homeschool hubs. Where families bring their children to get socialize skills or extra academic support.

Parents it’s ok.
This weekend was crazy. We spent most of the weekend at the baseball field. When I got home I was exhausted. I was still trying to catch up on things around the house. When I asked my oldest what he wanted he said chicken strips and Mac and cheese. That’s exactly what he got. His usual go to is pb&j but we are trying yi explore more options. With his autism and adhd he sticks to what he knows even if he likes something else.
Parents it’s ok if you need a quick meal. It’s ok if you don’t cook on days your normally cook. To be honest my kids was excited for what they got to choose.

Let’s talk organization.
My middle son has struggled with remembering papers. He keeps forgetting his stuff at school. I thought back to what helped last year and brought back a homework folder.
Even if the whole class isn’t using it your child can still use it. Helping teach organization is key to helping with ADHD. This is the process to help them determine what helps them with organization.

We are on week 3 and lunches are still a struggle for me. That’s right for me. I can’t seem to get in the groove of making them the night before. Past few days the younger two have packed uncrustables.
Now let’s talk about the boys. They have got a routine in place. They get up, grab their lunch boxes, and away they go with getting it ready.
Parents if your child is doing everything and have a routine in place that is a win. Give yourself grace. Getting the kids in routine is the most important.

Not every challenging behavior needs a behavior plan.

But every challenging behavior deserves thoughtful problem-solving.

Before writing a behavior plan, ask questions like:
✔️ Is learning being affected?
✔️ Have classroom interventions already been tried?
✔️ Is the behavior consistent?
✔️ Is anyone's safety at risk?
✔️ Do we understand what's triggering it?

The answers can help determine your next steps.
