Advice for new behavior analysts…

Don’t measure success by how detailed your behavior plan is.

Measure success by whether a family can realistically implement it.

The best intervention isn’t the one with the most strategies.

It’s the one that fits:
✔ The child’s needs.
✔ The family’s routines.
✔ The caregiver’s capacity.
✔ The realities of the home.

When families feel empowered instead of overwhelmed, implementation improves.

And when implementation improves, meaningful behavior change is much more likely to last.

Design plans that work in real life not just on paper.

When a friend ask what your kid wants for his birthday. She understands him because she got him squishes. The bag was never ending. He sat for hours opening and describing each one. This is just a few he got.
Find you a friend who understands your child.

The teacher can not make the decision to not give the accommodation. Only time an accommodation can be changed is if there is an IEP meeting.

Parents I hear you! Teachers I hear you. I’m here for all of you. I was a teacher for 9 years in public school and private school for 3 years. I had to fight for students and fights for my own boys for their IEP. It’s not easy. Questions and demands the administrators ask is hard. We have to focus on the child. From academic to behavioral support.

Kids get glasses so they can see. Without the glasses they can’t see therefore they can’t succeed. Let’s give the accommodations that the student needs to succeed.
