On Saturday 20th May Black Fly & Black Venus came together and held a workshop in honour of the department of Unruly Histories to explore and mark ✨OUR✨ London.

🔺
"We all have a relationship to land, this city specifically, there are certain places that I go to and I can feel the hair on my neck stick up. There are places where we have felt unsafe and those boundaries feel written in my body

Our memories, ritual and practice draw these lines. Trauma and joy show up in various forms, is there a way for us to connect to this un-boundaried and sometimes unfeeling monster we call home? can the lines of joy be imagined in new ways, lines to navigate it safely?
How do we imagine our territories?
We start with our bodies. Our feet. Our elbows. Our softness.

We reclaim our memories however biased, however jaded"
🔻

▫️Exercising repair and recovery, we took our time to breathe, to take in the full weight of ourselves, we got to guide and to be a guided.

🔳Thank you to all the participants who came through✨💜 It was a very special night, your trust and grace was truly felt

🔲A massive thank you and smooches to & for allowing us the space to get weird n lovely

Make sure to catch the exhibition which is now on until 2 June ✨🥳

Listening event at
Saturday 6th May 12pm-2pm

✨Please bring your own headphones!✨

In this audio piece, Sensorial Cruising, Black Fly (BFZ) reflect on desires, consent, cruising, and crushes. They talk about what it means to explore intimacy, explore being pleasured, and explore being safely uncomfortable. They reflect on the impossibility of silence, the intense loudness of bodily sounds, and the various auditory experiences of the city. As people socialised as women and gender non conforming folx, we discuss not feeling accepted in many s*xual health spaces across London, and open paths for different ways we can relate to ourselves and our intimate experiences.

department of Unruly histories (dUh) is an artwork produced by Meera Shakti Osborne () consisting of a collective sonic and material archive built on post-colonial migration stories in London. In conjunction with an exhibition at Cubitt Artists, curated by Mariam Elnozahy, ten audio pieces are installed in various satellite sites across London.

Earlier this year we collaborated with to deliver monthly workshops for their LGBT homeless youth groups supported by the excellent Hasan. Above is the feedback from those workshops, it was humorous, insightful, challenging in all the right ways to work with these young minds and have the opportunity to air feelings that can be ruminated on in isolation.

We now offer workshops on:

✂️ Zine Making
🌊 Relationship to self
🌀 Relationship to others
❤️‍🔥 Rejection and jealousy
🌓 Self care

Along with our iconic Erotic Mapping workshop 💦

In this episode we give a round up of the latest s*xual health news including Lily Allen's new s*x toy, the effect of lockdown on couple's s*x lives and (argh) the US elections.

Did someone say... EROTIC MAPPING?🗣🦟

We’re back and have teamed up with & .library to hold our next Erotic Mapping Workshop.

We’ll once again be seeking attendees to break down, define, question what, where and how the Erotic shows up in their worlds.

Expanding our ideas on centering pleasure, and navigating spaces through the lens of the Erotic.

We invite you to join us, especially if you haven’t been before🥰

Check the link our bio to join the virtual community centre on the 26th October✨✨✨

we want s*x ed to discuss strapp use, safe a**l, non genital-centred s*x, pre&post-f**k tenderness • we want a s*x ed that acknowledges as a valid release & self care practice • we want s*x ed to make space for as*xuality, celibacy, non-desire, touch-aversion • we want s*x ed that honours the radical s*x of our q***r ancestors • we want a s*x ed that scraps it’s existing structure, and builds up to centre black, brown and q***r folk • we want a s*x ed that talks about heartbreak • we want a s*x ed to give us space to name & work through our trauma • we want s*x Ed that celebrates fat bodies • we want s*x ed that’s trans asf • we want s*x ed that’s honest and centred joy not fear...the list goes on.

Black Fly Zine exists to interrupt the existing failing narratives and be a resource, education and an affirmation for the knowledge in between the gaps. We are glad to be here and will be even more glad when we don’t have to be.

It’s *xualhealthweek! & we wanted to list our thoughts on what s*x education actually needs, in line with the theme of RSE. What are your demands? 🌱

Hello new followers (and old🧙🏿‍♀️🙋🏾‍♀️). has given our project some unprecedented attention and we have been loving it tbh, very affirming to us as a collective and the work that we do!

There are only 5 remaining copies of the first issue of Black Fly Zine so if you would like a copy now would be the time. The book is 96 pages with a screen printed cover, exploring s*xual health from over 35 B&POC submitters from USA, UK and Mexico. Covering topics like q***r love, black masculinity, ma********on with a yoni egg, herpes and Grindr, trauma, consent and so much more. It’s truly one of a kind and we can’t believe these are the last few copies...mad.

If you are a white ally/non black ally think about dropping us some coin, the money is very practically put towards all the projects we produce, workshop materials, mailing costs, printing, merchandise etc. We are totally unfunded and it means a lot. Link in bio 🤑

Also peep the recent article by whizz kid who writes about our most recent workshop with - they rlly understood the work we are doing and it’s a pleasure to read.

Look out for our next callout dropping real soon...🐍
