Do you use Facebook to stay informed about Coachella Valley news and to read or watch interesting stories? You're not alone -- the Pew Research Center says about two-thirds of adults get their news from social media.

But there are changes coming to Facebook that could mean fewer news stories from The Desert Sun will show up in your News Feed. Mark Zuckerberg recently posted that fewer posts from pages will be visible in the new version of the social media platform's algorithm.

You can do something about it, though. Here's how to adjust your settings to still see the news that's important to you from The Desert Sun, DESERT magazine, Desert Sun Sports and posts from other pages:

Facebook for iPhone

1. Select the three-line menu in the bottom right-hand corner of the app.

2. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select "Settings."

3. Select "News Feed Preferences."

4. Select "Prioritize who to see first."

5. Select the pages and profiles you want to see appear first in your news feed, including The Desert Sun. The pages and profiles you select will show a blue badge with a star.

6. Select "Done."

Facebook for Android

1. Select the three-line menu in the top right-hand corner of the app.

2. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select "News Feed Preferences."

3. Select "Prioritize who to see first."

4. Select the pages and profiles you want to see appear first in your news feed, including The Desert Sun.

5. Select "Done."

Facebook.com on desktop

1. On Facebook.com, select the drop-down arrow in the top right corner of the page.

2. Select "News Feed Preferences."

3. Select "Prioritize who to see first."

4. Select the pages and profiles you want to see appear first in your news feed (including The Desert Sun). The pages and profiles you select will show a blue badge with a star.

5. Select "Done."

Alternately: When you visit a page, such as DESERT magazine or Desert Sun Sports you can click 'following' for a dropdown menu that gives you an option under 'News Feed' to 'See first.'
