Criminal Court “A” Compels BMC to Release Records in Clar Hope Foundation Construction Investigation

Monrovia — Criminal Court “A” has ordered the Building Material Center (BMC) to turn over key financial and contractual documents tied to the construction of the Clar Hope Foundation, as authorities intensify scrutiny of the high-profile project.

The directive was issued through a Writ of Subpoena Duces Tecum signed by Court Clerk Gabriel J. Smith, following a formal request from the Assets & Property Retrieval Task Force led by Cllr. Edwin K. Martin. The Task Force argues that BMC holds essential records needed to advance its ongoing probe into the foundation’s financing and development.

Under the court’s mandate, BMC’s General Manager, CEO, shareholders, and other responsible officials must appear before Resident Circuit Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

Records Sought in the Investigation

The subpoena compels BMC to provide the construction contract for the Clar Hope Foundation, all payment vouchers and checks issued during the project, official receipts, the full Bill of Quantities (BOQ), and any additional documents related to payments and project development.

Investigators believe the records will help clarify financial flows, identify potential discrepancies, and support the wider asset recovery exercise currently underway.

Court Issues Compliance Warning

The Sheriff of Montserrado County has been instructed to serve the order and ensure a return is filed with the Court. The writ also cautions that BMC will face legal consequences should it fail to comply with the subpoena as ordered.

The move highlights the government’s increasing focus on transparency and accountability, as the asset retrieval campaign continues to expand across several high-value projects and institutions.

Traditional Leaders in Kpatawee Reject President Boakai’s Bill to Ban Harmful Cultural Practices

By: Joshua Mulbah Jr.

B**g County, Suakoko District ---Traditional leaders of Kpatawee Clan have voiced strong opposition to President Joseph N. Boakai’s proposed bill seeking to outlaw harmful cultural practices across Liberia.

The leaders made their position clear during a recent gathering in Raymond Town, Suakoko District.

According to the traditional authorities, the proposed legislation threatens long-held cultural values and traditions handed down by their forefathers.

They argued that culture forms the foundation of their identity and should not be altered or tampered with by national policy.

"Our culture is what we live by. We believe in it. We were born into it, we inherited it from our forefathers, and we must uphold its value," the leaders stated. "Our culture has power, and no one should overlook it. We cannot sit and support any law that undermines it."

The traditional leaders further appealed to their district representative, Hon. Eugine J. M. Kollie, urging him not to support the bill when it reaches the Legislature.

They emphasized that as their elected voice at the Capitol, Rep. Kollie must stand firm in defending the district’s cultural heritage.

Responding to the concerns, Representative Kollie assured the citizens that he would fully represent their interest. He vowed not to support the bill, stating that he remains committed to protecting the will of the people of Suakoko District.

The traditional leaders cautioned that if enacted into law, the bill would severely undermine and erode the cultural norms and values of the Kpelleh ethnic group and other tribes that uphold similar traditions.

The traditional leaders then used the medium to call on President Boakai to reconsider the bill and instead engage with traditional communities to find common ground.

"We kindly appeal to President Boakai to retract or review his decision on this proposed bill and work in harmony with us as our national leader,"

The traditional elders appealed to the Liberian leader.

Massive L$16.8 Million Drug Bust in Lofa County

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) detachment in Lofa County has announced a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on illicit drugs, seizing narcotics valued at L$16,804,000—equivalent to US$88,442.

The operation, carried out on November 22, 2025, in Voinjama City, has sent shockwaves throughout the county and reinforced the LDEA’s growing momentum in the fight against drug trafficking.

According to authorities, the confiscated substances included 8,402 scrips of high-grade Tramadol, a potent opioid commonly smuggled and abused across the region. The haul was intercepted at the Monrovia Parking area in central Voinjama.

Officials confirmed the arrest of 30-year-old Blessing William, a Kpelleh from B**g County, who was taken into custody in connection with the illegal consignment. William has since been charged under Sections 14.83, 14.85, and 14.89 of the Liberian Penal Law.

The LDEA’s Lofa County Director-General praised the coordinated efforts of the joint security forces, describing the seizure as a clear demonstration of Liberia’s commitment to dismantling drug networks.

“This is not just about burning drugs—it's about safeguarding our communities,” the Director-General said.

Local residents have widely applauded the agency’s action, calling for even tougher measures to curb the growing influence of narcotics in the county.

The LDEA has vowed to intensify its operations by strengthening intelligence gathering and enhancing collaboration with other security agencies in order to disrupt drug syndicates operating in and around Lofa County.

Kpatawee Citizens Accuse Waterfall Operator of Breaching MOU, Demand Community Benefits

By: Joshua Mulbah Jr.

Kpatawee Clan, B**g County — Residents of Kpatawee Clan have accused Jack Enterprise, the operator of the Kpatawee Waterfall, of violating the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with the community, claiming the company has failed to deliver agreed-upon benefits.

The allegations were raised during a mass meeting held Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Raymond Town. Clan Chief Menipakei Darwolokar said Jack Enterprise CEO Madam Josephine Richardson has allegedly deprived the community of its rightful share of revenue generated from the popular tourist site.

Chief Darwolokar further accused the CEO of maintaining poor working relations with locals and exploiting the clan’s natural resources without accountability.

Residents issued a stern warning, demanding that Jack Enterprise immediately release the community’s share of the earnings or face a blockade of business activities during the upcoming November 29 celebration.

In response, Representative Eugine JM Kollie, lawmaker of Suakoko District #5, assured citizens that he would intervene promptly.

Representative Eugine JM Kollie promised to re-engage the company through the appropriate legal process to ensure the community receives its benefits.

Rep. Kollie also encouraged residents to remain calm and peaceful while the matter is being addressed, assuring them that their concerns would be resolved.

Man, 41, Allegedly Kills Wife Over Cell Phone Dispute In Todee, Montserrado County

Man 41, identified as Abraham Mator, has been accused of allegedly killing his wife during a dispute over a cell phone in Mission Town, Todee Statutory District. The tragic incident transpired on November 23, 2025.

‎ Town Chief John Sackie informed reporters that the suspect, Abraham Mator, returned from Kakata at about 7 p.m. Subsequently, residents heard a commotion emanating from his house and hurriedly entered, only to discover the victim, Esther David, lying on the ground in a pool of cold blood.

‎ According to eyewitness accounts, the couple allegedly engaged in a struggle over the phone after the suspect denied Esther permission to make a call. This altercation reportedly resulted in her collapsing with fluid coming from her mouth, and she subsequently passed away.

‎According to community sources, it has been disclosed that the suspect has a history of domestic violence against the deceased. The deceased had recently undergone a major surgical procedure and is survived by a two-month-old infant.

‎ After the incident, the Town Chief, accompanied by the suspect's brother, escorted Mator into the wooded area. They apprehended him to the police, who facilitated his transfer from Nyehn Station to Careysburg for further questioning.

‎ Residents have expressed concern that the police have not yet visited the crime scene, even though nearly 24 hours have passed since the incident and the suspect has already been taken into custody.

The family members of the deceased are now requesting an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death, as the body remains in Mission Third Town, leading to increasing health concerns due to the odor.

‎ Commissioner Arzata Flomo of Tubmanville expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, describing it as "heartbreaking," particularly given that the victim was a young mother recuperating from surgery. Furthermore, Commissioner Flomo criticized the police for their delayed response to the scene.

She expressed her gratitude towards the community watch team for their assistance in apprehending the suspect, and she lamented the fact that a township with a population exceeding 10,000 residents does not have any designated police officers, relying solely on the efforts of unpaid volunteers.

Commissioner Flomo has requested the Inspector General of Police to promptly assign officers to Todee District due to increasing insecurity and mounting frustration within the community.

The citizens continue to experience fear and grief following the tragic passing of Esther David, as there is an increasing demand for justice and enhanced security measures in rural Montserrado.
