Today in KTPI History: July 12, 1988 - released his third studio album, "Old 8 x 10". The album produced the singles "H***y Tonk Moon", "Deeper Than the Holler", "Is It Still Over", and "Promises". All of these except "Promises" reached Number One on the Hot Country Songs charts.

"Old 8×10" earned Travis three American Music Awards for 'Favorite Country Male Artist', 'Favorite Country Album', and 'Favorite Country Single' (Deeper Than the Holler), and has sold over 2 million copies since its release.

George Strait is stepping up to raise money for those who have been impacted by the catastrophic flooding in Texas in July of 2025, and he's inviting a number of celebrity friends to help out.

The Country Music Hall of Famer has announced a special benefit concert and dinner that is set to take place at Estancia at Thunder Valley indoor arena in Boerne, Texas, on Sunday, July 27.

Today in KTPI History: July 11, 1987 - was at #1 on the Country Singles chart with "All My Exes Live In Texas". The soung would go on to nominated for Best Male Country Vocal Performance at the 1988 Grammy Awards, and has sold over 1 million copies.

July 11, 1991 - with Sons Of The Desert were at #1 on the Country singles chart with "I Hope You Dance". The song won the 2001 Country Music Association (CMA) Award for Single of the Year, as well as the Academy of Country Music (ACM), Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), and Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) awards for Song of the Year. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song and was nominated for Grammy Award for Song of the Year, and has sold over 2 million copies.
