During the overnight shift, Officer Blair came across a baby deer (fawn) lying in the road on Chapin Street. Concerned for its safety, he contacted the Animal Control Officer (ACO), who was already responding to another call.

Once the ACO arrived, they determined that the fawn was only a few days old. The mother deer was spotted nearby, but separated by a six-foot fence which the baby couldn’t cross.

Officer Blair was initially concerned that human contact might cause the mother to reject the fawn. Fortunately, the ACO assured him that this is a common myth. With care and compassion, Officer Blair used a blanket to safely pick up the fawn and reunite it with its mother.

Mother and baby walked off together—safe and sound.

Thank you, Officer Blair and Animal Control, for your quick thinking and compassion!

Hi, everyone! If you’ve visited this page in the past couple years, you probably noticed the lack of activity. The reason is, we were inadvertently locked out after the former editor left. Gunshots investigated

LUDLOW - At approximately 9:05 p.m. on Monday, April 15, the Ludlow Police Department dispatch received several emergency calls reporting the sound of multiple gunshots being heard in the area of Hubbard and Sewall streets. Ludlow Police officers responded and discovered six 9-milimeter shell casings directly in front of 100 Hubbard St. which is a four-family tenement building. The officers also smelled the odor of gunpowder upon their arrival. A search of the area was conducted and neighboring police departments were notified via the Western Mass. Law Enforcement radio channel.
To date, no one has been arrested.
That area of Hubbard Street was closed for over three hours as officers and detectives investigated the shooting incident. During their investigation, three bullet holes were discovered in a motor vehicle parked in front of the building and one bullet hole was located on the first floor of the building. No one was injured in the incident.
Anyone with any information on this crime should contact the Ludlow Police Department at 413-583-8305 or send an anonymous text to CRIMES (274637), then type the word SOLVE and send.

Fundraiser lifts up cancer patients

Over the years, Denise and Art Flanagan of Ludlow have tried many forms of fundraising to improve the quality of life for cancer patients, who often grapple with unseen lifestyle changes and financial roadblocks to their recovery.
But in the end, the desire to help out has always started a the same place. And best of all, their efforts are targeted at a facility in the region, services provided by the Mass General Cancer Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.
So carrying on a tradition that has only grown stronger over the past decade, the former walk team Patty’s Bosom Buddies will host “Get Your Pink On” on Saturday, March 2 at the Ludlow Country Club, on Tony Lema Drive in Ludlow.
The event will include food, entertainment featuring Triple Play and Kera Burke of Mix 93.1, as well as both live and silent auctions.
The event began when Pat Jones, Art’s sister, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 in Ohio. That’s when the team “Patty’s Bosom Buddies” was formed.
Since that time, the event has raised $120,000 for the cause.
To purchase tickets for Get Your Pink On, contact Art or Denise at 413-949-0520 or [email protected].
