Wasilla High School contemplates the power of a symbol

by Olivia Vincent WASILLA HIGH They might not have planned on it, but in the first week of school Wasilla High was asked to regard their freedoms as Americans, and morals as people, when a group of boys came on school campus flying Confederate flags on their trucks. When students arrived back at school on August 14th, it did not go unnoticed that out in the parking lot were three vehicles with the red white and blue flags of the Confederacy flying off their beds. Colony Cross Country Blazes Trails, Region III Title

by Micah Maffe and Hailey Samis The Colony High Cross Country tore up the trails this season. The girls team were the Region 3 Champions this year, with seven girls qualifying for the state meet. The boys finished with two qualifiers. So how did the athletes prepare? “At first we started with basic training. A.L.I.C.E. Hits Home

The Mat-Su Borough School district is adapting to a new lockdown system this year within all schools to improve the safety of all students and staff. A.L.I.C.E. is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate which is the new way schools across MSBSD are preparing themselves for an active shooter emergency. The traditional lockdown procedures were developed in the 1970’s due to the Los Angeles crime rates rising. [ 333 more words. ]

Alaska Middle College School (AMCS) is a partnership between the Mat-Su Borough School District and the University of Alaska Anchorage.
