One year after losing a dedicated teacher and lifelong advocate for Title I students, Manatee Bridging the Gap posthumously honored Troy "TK" Dodd on Friday at Ballard Elementary School. Palmetto Police Chief Scott Tyler, one of the founding members of the organization, presented Principal Rudy Keezer with a donation to buy new books for the school.
The Ben Carson Reading Room was filled with community partners, Bradenton Police officers, representatives from Manatee County Sheriff's Office, City of Bradenton, Florida Mayor Gene Brown, colleagues, and loved ones of TK Dodd, who shared memories of an incredible man gone too soon. A plaque was also presented, which will hang at the school in his honor.
