What is local journalism worth to you?

When the Mountain View Voice was founded in 1993, it was a different time in the newspaper business. Locally owned retail businesses were plentiful and had resources for marketing. Advertising covered our costs. Unfortunately, those days are long gone. The old business model is broken and the survival of local journalism is now in the hands of readers, who must decide how much value they attach to having an independently owned local news organization.

We hope our reporting efforts are worth at least $10 per month, or $0.33 a day, to you. For that amount, you will become a subscribing member, have unlimited access to all our content and archives, receive member-only benefits and, most importantly, you will be doing your share to keep quality local journalism alive and well here on the Peninsula. With the closure of each local newspaper around the country, democracy and a community’s identity take a hit. So we ask, how much are they worth to you?
