We wanted to do our due diligence to see how the Sheriffs Office is running no rumors just facts.
We did FOIA requests on the three largest departments in Christian County. We wanted to see how many residential search warrants were completed which have to be signed by a Judge. We also wanted to see vehicle citations.
✅ Pana Police very transparent.
✅ Taylorville Police very transparent.
X Christian County Sheriffs Office not transparent.
Pana and Taylorville granted our FOIA and gave numbers. Taylorville Police had several pages attached is a summary.
Christian County when asked about search warrants has no documents but had numerous search warrants. Under state law 725 ILCS 5/108-4 once a search warrant is executed you must return to the Judge who issued it. You better have a file in your office. No numbers.
Citations: (In Quote) There is no documentation must refer to the circuit clerks office. By state statue they are not subject to FOIA 5 ILCA 140/2(a). So how does the Sheriffs Office conduct performance evaluations. Why not keep how many citations on file? Just be transparent. These are facts not rumors.
Please see attached FOIA material.
