Two special things happened this weekend for our family ❤️

Ethan learned how to mow for the first time which he was pretty proud of himself! 🥹 Stephen usually knocks it out on the riding lawnmower but he’s been pretty busy lately and the front yard was getting quite overgrown so they pulled out the electric push mower and Stephen showed him how to do it. He’ll be turning 13 next month and I still can’t believe that my baby boy is almost a teenager! 😭💞

Another super special occasion was that Stephen’s dad officially joined his real estate team and it was his first day on the job together! 🎉 So excited for them as they continue to build and grow the business together! They headed off to an open house while Ethan finished up the yard and it just felt like one of those “glimmer” kind of days where you sense the Lord’s nearness in the little moments all the more. ❤️🙏🏽✨

First week of homeschool has officially begun for these cuties 💕🎉
Ethan is in 7th grade this year (what?! 😭) and he is looking forward to some new extra curricular activities as well as officially being old enough to start youth group this fall. Such a big kid and we’re so excited for him! ❤️

This will be Lincoln’s first year to homeschool as well! We really loved his previous school and the wonderful teachers there who supported and loved on him so well however our sweet boy has continued to struggle with seizures that are pretty frequent and honestly terrifying because they happen so suddenly. So after lots of prayer and exploring all our options, we’ve decide to do school from home this year as well as having his therapies here too. We feel a lot of peace about this decision and I’m really so very excited for it! Looking forward to a great year!! 🙏🏼🎉💞

Happy 20th birthday to our eldest son, Jude! 🎉💕🎂
It feels like just yesterday he was celebrating his 5th birthday (his first one with us) and we were watching the excitement in his eyes as he experienced his very first birthday party, opening gifts, blowing out his candles and breaking open a piñata filled with candy. He’s always had such a joyful and grateful disposition and it’s been such a gift to see him grow into such an incredible young man.🥹

We were talking with him via video chat recently about how he’s feeling to be saying goodbye to his teen years and officially stepping into his 20s. Such a big milestone! He’s still out on his ship so unfortunately we can’t wish him a happy birthday on the exact day but we’re so proud of his willingness to sacrifice and serve others. He recently was given an award in the Navy for going above and beyond what’s expected of him and honestly we’re not a bit surprised. He’s kind, thoughtful, courageous, protective and has a humble, quiet strength about him that is so admirable. ❤️

We love you so much jude miller and hope you have a truly wonderful birthday out at sea. Praying that this first year in your 20s is filled with blessings and that you sense how dearly loved you are by so many! Happy happy birthday, Jude the dude! ❤️🎂🎉🎁🎈✨

Happy 9th adoption anniversary to our precious kiddos, Penelope XiaoHong and Lincoln JieRui ❤️🎉

Nine years ago, our family was in China officially welcoming these two into our family and it was such an incredibly special time and such a whirlwind! Each year we’ve deferred to our kids on how they want to remember this day and they’ve always really loved celebrating it and reminiscing all of the special memories we made. Last night we were talking about many of the sweet and often funny moments from those weeks. The first photo here was taken for the consulate appointment early in the morning (thus the tired looks on our faces) but we were remembering how Penelope was being interviewed and they asked her things like “Do you want to be adopted?” “Are you willingly going?” “Where will your new home be?” Then they pointed to us and said, “Who are these people?” And she replied, “They are the Americans.” The officer started laughing and said, “But who are they to you?” She said, “Ohhhh, they’re my new parents.” 😂❤️

We’re so grateful for the way that the Lord has knit our family together and it’s such a gift and privilege to be Penny and Lincoln’s mom and dad! ❤️❤️

We are celebrating this evening as a family with some delicious Chinese food and taking the kids to the movie theatre. Some of our favorites 🥰🥟🎉🍿💞✨

Happy 11th birthday to our ray of Sunshine, Lincoln JieRui! 🎉🎂🎁❤️✨
I can’t believe our sweet boy is ELEVEN already?! He is such a beautiful soul with the brightest smile and the best hugs and kisses. We are so grateful for the gift that he is to our family and how much joy he shares with everyone around him. We had a lovely evening together with extended family, swimming and enjoying Thai food (his favorite!) and the cutest little sprinkles cake. 🎂

We love you more than we can ever express and pray that this next year to come is full of blessings, healing and continued joy! Love our Linky boy!! ❤️🎉🎈

Disney part 2! We had a blast at Epcot yesterday on Penelope’s actual birthday enjoying the rides and sampling some of the yummy drinks and food at the various countries. Penny tried a margarita from Mexico and a fruity sparkling drink with popping boba from China 🥂 Jude even FaceTimed in for a bit toward the end and then we finished the evening at a delicious Chinese restaurant and the prettiest cake that her bestie had ordered back at our airbnb 🎂❤️

So grateful for such a special quick trip celebrating our sweet girl and can’t believe she’s already 21!! 🥹💞🎉🎁✨

Happy 21st Birthday to our beautiful daughter, Penelope Xiaohong! What an amazing woman you have become! 🥹🎉💞

When we met you in China at 12 years old, you had already experienced more change and uncertainty than most people ever will. But watching you grow into who you are today has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives! We are so incredibly proud of you- for your resilience, courage, strength, and the way you keep moving forward no matter what life puts in front of you!!

Can’t wait to see what this next chapter holds for you and we know that the Lord has such beautiful plans for you! Love you more than words can ever say! 💕

We are spending a couple of days at Disney World to celebrate our sweet girl and yesterday was a blast at Magic Kingdom! Looking forward to a full day of celebrating today as well! 🎉🎂🥂❤️

Our July photo dump ❤️✨

What a month it’s been soaking up the summer moments with our loved ones. We’ve tried to intentionally slow down a bit this summer (especially because August is going to be quite the busy month) and just be present in all of the little moments that turn out to be not so little. What a gift to be able to do so! 💞

From Jude getting to visit home one more time before going out on his ship, to getting our chicken coop set up and moving in our chickens 🐓 to hosting a big 4th of July party. And to so many little moments in between where we continue to see the faithfulness of God in both the beautiful and the hard. Grateful for all of the ways the Lord continues to be kind to us 🙏🏼💞✨

Cheers to soaking up these last days of summer! ☀️💦🌸
