😂🚗 IT WAS ALMOST A BANNER DAY FOR WILLIAMS PAINT & BODY SHOP!

Check out this near accident we caught on our Marianna camera during Panhandle Weather Live at 6 tonight.

Making a left turn out of the truck stop from a “No Left Turn” lane without yielding to oncoming traffic was certainly a bold move. 😳 Thankfully, everyone avoided a collision and everyone is OK!

But it does give us the opportunity for a pretty perfect sponsor plug… 😂

🌦️⛈️ RAIN CHANCES STICK AROUND!

Keep the umbrella nearby over the next 7 days across NWFL! We’ll continue with a typical warm and humid pattern featuring daily opportunities for scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Rain chances look highest Friday and Saturday, with some locally heavy downpours possible. We may see somewhat lower coverage Sunday and Monday before scattered storms remain possible into the middle of next week. No day looks like an all-day washout, but where storms develop, expect lightning, brief heavy rain and gusty winds.

Going to school: Keep the umbrella handy! ☔️ It’ll be warm and muggy with temperatures in the 70s and some showers or even a thunderstorm possible, especially closer to the coast.

Coming home: 🌦️ Temperatures will be in the 80s to near 90 with scattered showers and thunderstorms around NWFL. Not everyone gets rain, but a quick downpour and lightning will be possible.

🌀 TODAY IS THE CLIMATOLOGICAL PEAK OF HURRICANE SEASON!

September 10 is historically the peak of Atlantic hurricane season, but 2026 has been remarkably quiet so far.

Through today:

🌪️ 5 named storms
🌀 0 hurricanes
💪 0 major hurricanes

In fact, our five storms — Arthur, Bertha, Cristobal, Dolly and Edouard — have produced an ACE of just 4.4, about 92% below normal to this point in the season.

Here’s another remarkable number: September 11 is the latest we’ve gone before seeing the season’s first hurricane in the satellite era, which began in 1966. Hurricane Gustav reached hurricane strength on September 11, 2002.

And while today may be the climatological peak, hurricane season is FAR from over. There are still 81 days remaining before the season officially ends November 30.🌀

🏈⛈️ WEEK 2 OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS ALMOST HERE… AND WEATHER COULD PLAY A ROLE!

If you’re headed to a game across the South Saturday, you’ll want to keep an eye on the radar. A warm, humid and unsettled pattern means showers and thunderstorms could impact tailgating or game time at several SEC stadiums.

Some of the games we’re watching include Western Kentucky at Georgia, Alabama at Kentucky, Campbell at Florida, Louisiana Tech at LSU and Southern Miss at Auburn. Those games stretch from early afternoon into Saturday night.

It certainly doesn’t mean any of these games will be a washout, but lightning is always the big concern. ⚡️🏟️

🎶🌴 MUSIC IN THE PARK — MEXICO BEACH FORECAST

Things are looking pretty good for Music in the Park tonight! While we can’t completely rule out a passing shower or storm, rain chances should decrease as we head through the evening, so much of the event should be quiet.

🌡️ Expect a warm and humid evening with temperatures falling through the 80s. Keep an eye on the sky early, but overall Mother Nature looks like she may cooperate for some music in Mexico Beach tonight! 🎸🎶

⛈️🌊 WATCH THE STORMS ROLL IN (9a-11a)!

Check out this timelapse of showers and thunderstorms approaching the coast at Inlet Beach from our Panhandle Weather camera at High Pointe Resort on 30A!

The storms developed over The Gulf, quickly moved onshore and then continued inland across NWFL. 🌧️⚡️

This is a good look at the weather pattern we expect over the next few days — showers and storms developing near the coast and then pushing inland. Not a washout, but keep an eye on the radar and be ready for a quick downpour, gusty winds and lightning.

🌪️🌦️ TALKING WEATHER WITH SOME FUTURE METEOROLOGISTS!

I had a great time speaking to a homeschool group in Panama City Beach yesterday! A big thank you to Ms. Lauren for inviting me out.

Most of the kids were 7–10 years old, and I was impressed with how well-behaved they were and how many great questions they asked!

We covered a LOT — the water cycle, tornadoes, hurricanes, air pressure, barometers, temperature, thermometers, anemometers and sun safety. We even made a cloud in a bottle! ☁️

Always fun getting kids excited about weather and science! 🌦️📚
