TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE: DOC WHITFIELD ONE MILE FROM SR 71

A traffic accident involving a log truck approximately one mile off State Road 71 on the Doc Whitfield Road has forced a temporary road closure as the tow company removes the vehicle from the shoulder of the road. Logs will also have to be removed from the scene.
The road will be re-opened as soon as possible.

The Illumination series returns at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Holley Academic Center with award-winning author Dale Cox. His presentation, "The Fort at Prospect Bluff," re-examines the history of the British outpost on the Apalachicola River during the War of 1812. The National Landmark offered protection to hundreds of Black and Native American refugees and recently was added to the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom.
