Since the start of the year JVC has been rebuilding local radio like it should be- alive and connected to YOU, the local audience.
National radio companies are in for an apocalyptic type financial crisis. They are downsizing, switching to AI programming and in some cases AI hosts, mass national programming and hosts with zero market input. At this point they are fighting to keep the lights on literally – one of them has just been turning in some stations back to the FCC.
We have doubled down on local radio. Our stations, The Bone (92.1 &97.7), The Wave (102.1 &105.9), Florida Man Radio (103.1 &101.1) and Highway 98 Country (98.1) are all programed by real humans, our hosts have called the panhandle home most of their adult life.
We listen to your comments, your texts, your messages, talk to you at events and unlike our competition we have the authority to play what we want – when we want on the local level. Our Programmers have a passion for music not spreadsheets. We have zero corporate overreach handcuffing us.
This has allowed us to take the approach with two of our three music brands having daily no repeat guarantees, and each with well over 3,500 songs in rotation- compared to just 3 to 500 in the national stations libraries who mass repeat daily.
We are true radio people who actually care about the product we put out. Most radio groups have given up on realizing that the listener is the true client. While the national conglomerates endingless 16-20 minutes of ads seem to be mostly national ads run in an extremely repetitive way, we are committed to working with local advertisers. We are running less ads, in the case of our rock station- we max out at under 5 minutes per hour on average.
We have connected the panhandle for a reason; we all share more than just HWY 98. From Pensacola to Panama City and our northern peaks such as Andalusia and Dothan you should be able to hear stations that actually belong to you. Actual local radio, the way it was before the national consolidations happened.
We are in this for the long hall, dedicated to putting out localized and interactive audio experiences that you cannot get anywhere else. We hope every day we are a listening option for you.
