I can find nothing more about "super melo gorgeous" as early 1900s slang. (It feels so 1980s valley girl slang to me!)

I also tried searching it spelled as "supreme lo gorgeous" but nada.

Apparently this gay vernacular was super specific to this one woman in Jasper, FL 🤷🏼‍♀️

So... I decided to go through the 11 volumes of a particular online collection and make notes that made better visual sense to me.

I'm a couple weeks in. On Vol 7 today. But once I got to Vol 4 I realized I needed to copy more/different info, so I have to go back and redo my notes on vol 1-3 😩 😭

I am still very smart though 🥸

When other moms say vague stuff like, "I'm always trying hard not to yell" I often want more details on what they mean by that.

Trying hard how?

Because for too long I assumed "trying hard" meant "SUPPRESS THE FEELINGS" since people never explained it other than to sometimes reference taking deep breaths.

And so I got really good at dissociation via the smothering but I did not actually ever reach the point of not wanting to yell anymore with that strategy.

The best ways I "TRY HARD" not to yell are things like bursting into loud and silly songs with my feelings-- "Will anyone ever feed the cats?! Will they forever cry cry cry?! When will they die die die?!"

But that's really my best TRY. Thunderous and off key singing.

Are there other secret TRY HARDS that moms are keeping to themselves?

Or do they mostly just mean taking deep breaths and pasting fake smiles?

If there are equal/better tricks than singing, I need to know.

Garbage social trends tryin to ruin the one semi-chill holiday parents had with this freaking boo basket nonsense. My child now wants a boo basket. No. No. No.

There's already baskets to stress about for easter and food to cook on thanksgiving and all the present drama of Christmas-- HALLOWEEN IS FOR SITTING AROUND AND STEALING MY CHILD'S UNWANTED CANDY.

So you can take your "boo baskets" and go straight to the devil, y'all 👻

I got way less Irish and way more Scottish and Germanic with this database update! As always, I get less and less "English" every time.

I lost Wales and Norway this round but gained Iceland.

Guys, make up bogus names and emails if you have to, but for the sake of genealogists everywhere-- PLEASE BEG ALL OF YOUR OLDEST RELATIVES TO TAKE A TEST.

I know, I know, boo evil corporations, but seriously, if you are over 80 and you die, all that wealth of info is just gone... AND NOT EVERYONE GOT RECORDED ON A CENSUS IN THE EARLY 1800S, OKAY? When there is no paper trail, the blood of a grandparent is a REAL AND VALUABLE SOURCE.

(My own parents won't do a DNA test, and yet they use cellphones and apps which expose way more of their data, so their thought process makes no sense to me.)

If you care about genealogical efforts and/or restoring history that has been erased, then HELP genealogical efforts!!
