Our third season of broadcasting Orleans Basketball concluded Saturday. It ended where every team wants to end their season: the State Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis. The good news is the Bulldogs boys were able to close the season by winning the first State Title in program history. What it made it a special season was watching a team become complete. We watched the team grow from their start at Crothersville in November to becoming a cohesive group through March. It takes a group willing to put aside their individual accolades to accomplish the greater goals of team success. These Bulldogs exemplified that all through the postseason starting in the Loogootee Sectional against Medora and ending against Clinton Prairie in the Circle City. Everyone excelled in their roles and helped contribute to bringing home the highest honor a team in Indiana can achieve. Thank you to the team for all of your exemplary work throughout the season. Thank you for taking all of us along for a special and spectacular journey. Thank you to the coaching staff for all your hard work in preparing this team all season. Thank you to the band and the cheerleaders for creating a fun and supportive atmosphere. Thank you to the fans for cheering and supporting the teams all season. In addition to the boys' team that made a historic run to the Class A Crown, we also had the chance to cover a terrific girls' team that made another great run to a Sectional Championship appearance. It is both a privilege and an honor to carry Orleans Basketball games between our two broadcast teams: Dave Dedrick and Bert Pedigo, along with David Deaton, Greg Deaton and Brad Deaton. Thank you to our tremendous sponsors for their support through the regular season and the tournaments. Thank you to all of your who said hello or gave us encouragement at the games when we were there to broadcast. Thank you to Athletic Director Mark Wheeler and head coaches Tom Bradley and Jared Gilbert for allowing us to be a small part of their season journeys. We are grateful for the time they take to do interviews, provide lineups and help us get ready for game days. We appreciate all of the help we receive from the coaches and administrators. Thank you to those of you who listened to and supported our broadcasts on Gold 98.7, wsez987.com, or on your Alexa device all season!
