Somewhere along the way, the doors quietly closed on the next generation of punks. And when you lock out teenagers, you’re not just excluding them from a night out, you’re cutting off the lifeblood of the scene. The energy, the chaos, the discovery, the first-show magic... all of that starts young. Without it, scenes stagnate and disappear.
We’re not saying every space has to be a free-for-all, but punk has always been about inclusion and community, not gatekeeping by birthdate.
* wants to be clear, kids need to be protected at shows, and they need to feel safe. All-ages doesn’t mean “anything goes.” It means building spaces where the next generation can experience live music without fear, without exploitation, and without being pushed to the margins.
