COMMUNITY MEETING: THE FUTURE OF DATA CENTERS IN RALLS COUNTY
This is bigger than politics. It’s bigger than party lines. It’s bigger than any one person.
This is about Ralls County, our farmland, our homes, our natural resources, and what we want this community to look like for generations to come.
We are inviting residents from across the county to come together for a community discussion about proposed data-center development and what protections we believe should be in place.
Most importantly, we want to hear from YOU.
Data centers can bring significant land-use, energy, water, noise, infrastructure, environmental, fire-safety, and community impacts. Before Ralls County opens the door to any type of development, residents deserve answers backed by independent information — not simply studies or assurances provided by the companies seeking approval.
Some of the issues we want the community to discuss include:
• Pushing for independent environmental, water, noise, energy-grid, traffic, fire-safety, agricultural, and infrastructure studies before decisions are made.
• Whether small or large-scale data centers belong on agricultural land at all or whether county policy should direct them to appropriately zoned industrial areas.
• Protecting farmland, neighboring property owners, rural communities, water resources, and our existing infrastructure.
• Understanding the significance of Ralls County’s 1994 Comprehensive Plan, how planning and zoning have changed since then, and what happened to comprehensive planning in the current ordinances.
• Demanding complete transparency from our elected and appointed officials regarding meetings, communications, applications, developers, utilities, land-use discussions, and decisions involving data centers.
• Making sure residents have a meaningful opportunity to participate before decisions are made and not after.
And ultimately, discussing what legal and policy questions should be asked if this community decides that data centers simply do not belong here.
This meeting isn’t about Republicans versus Democrats, neighbors versus neighbors, or personalities. Those differences have to be put aside.
When decisions could permanently change the character of our county, the people who live here need to stand together.
Government derives its authority from the people and that means our voices matter most when we use them together.
Come with questions.
Come with concerns.
Come with information.
Come with ideas.
Whether you support data centers, oppose them, or simply want more information before forming an opinion, you are welcome.
Our goal is simple:
Get informed. Get organized. Demand transparency. Demand independent answers. Protect Ralls County.
One resident can ask a question.
An entire community can demand an answer.
Please share this event and invite your neighbors. This is our county, and its future deserves the involvement of all of us.
