Did you know Oliver's Hospital was the first hospital in Paris, built in 1921.

It was located on Thompson Street and is now an apartment building.

Located directly behind Ridgeway Funeral Home, it was owned and operated by Dr. A.A. Oliver.

In the book, "Paris--The City Beautiful" by Sue Fox, it is referred to as "Oliver's Hospital". By the time the postcard seen here was printed, it was referred to as Paris General Hospital.

At the time it was built, it boasted of 20 modern rooms with 'modern equipment throughout'.

Do you remember the Rio Motel?

It was located on Tyson Ave. near the intersection with East Wood St. (roughly where Bass Realty is now).

It was a large motel, with good-sized signage as you can see. It featured 'private baths', as well as electric heat and air conditioning.

Note the sign for Smothers & Moody Insurance and Real Estate Agency at the front.
