And so have most of us.

Better behavior equals more love from God. Fall back into old patterns โ€” feel the distance grow. Clean up your act โ€” feel Him get closer.

It sounds right. It feels right.

It's completely wrong.

God loved you supremely and perfectly at your ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐˜ moment.

Not the version of you that showed up to church this morning. The version of you that you can barely forgive yourself for being. The moment you are most ashamed of โ€” the thing you've done that if someone else had done it, you would have thought less of them.

God's love was fully present in that moment.

Not despite it. ๐—œ๐—ป ๐—ถ๐˜.

And here's why that matters more than you think โ€”

There are things God has for you that you haven't moved into yet. Sacrifices you keep avoiding. Steps of faith that still feel too costly. A life you've been holding back from.

Not because you don't believe in God.

But because it hasn't broken your heart yet โ€” how much He loves you.

When it finally does โ€”

it won't just change what you believe. It will take the wind from your lungs. It will make you say โ€”

And for those who have never accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior โ€”

He had your salvation pre-planned before you knew you needed it.

He loves you more than any person ever could.

That love is not waiting for you to deserve it.

It is waiting for you to receive it.

That's ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”,๐Ÿ•๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ” people who said yes to Jesus.
36,706 moments someone went under the water and came back up new.
36,706 families changed.
36,706 eternities redirected.

And here's what makes it even more remarkable โ€”

At Mt. Gilead Church in Indiana, over 40% of those baptisms were performed by non-staff members.
At Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, 80% were done by everyday believers.
At Rise Christian Church in Ohio, 88 different people baptized 134 others.

Not the pastor. Not the staff.
๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐˜†.

This is what the church was always supposed to look like.
Every member a minister.
Every believer a witness.
Every ordinary person capable of being the hands that bring someone into the family of God.

You don't need a title to change someone's eternity.

36,706 times last year โ€” somebody proved that.

The church is not dying.
The church is baptizing.

And this โ€” this is worth celebrating.

Acts 2:41 โ€” "Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day."

1 Peter 2:9 โ€” "You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation."

This one is for the pastor of the church nobody's heard of.

The one who preaches every Sunday to 40 people in a town of 300. The one who hasn't seen a baptism in two years but keeps showing up. The one who drives an hour each way to lead a Bible study for six elderly saints.

The volunteer who sets up chairs before anyone arrives and folds them after everyone leaves.

The missionary in an unplowed field where the ground is hard and the harvest feels far away.

Hear this today โ€”

"A great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb." โ€” Revelation 7:9 (CSB)

Your congregation may be small. Your audience may be quiet. Your name may never trend anywhere.

But you are not serving a small kingdom.

You are part of something so wide, so long, so high, so deep โ€” that eternity itself cannot contain it.

"...to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." โ€” Ephesians 3:19 (CSB)

Don't you dare measure your faithfulness by applause.

In 1980, a 21-year-old youth pastor walked into a hospital room in Houston.

He didn't have much experience.
No theology of suffering polished by decades of ministry.
No practiced words for moments like this.

Just a name on a piece of paper and a room number from the receptionist.

What he found when he walked through that door stopped him in ways he couldn't fully explain.

A young man with leukemia.
His pregnant wife.
His parents.
A baby due in two months.
A marriage not yet two years old.
And a heaviness in the air that had no name โ€” only weight.

He stayed 30 minutes.
Prayed with them.
And left.

But he never really left that room.

That heaviness followed him.
Not just for the rest of that day.
For the rest of his life.

It followed him into every sermon he ever wrote.
Every pulpit he ever stood behind.
Every word he ever chose.
Every Sunday morning he looked out at a congregation and remembered โ€”

Someone in this room is carrying something I cannot see.

That's the thing about Sunday mornings nobody talks about enough.

The person with the biggest smile may be holding the heaviest secret.
The family that looks like they have it all together may be one week away from falling apart.
The man in the back row who came for the first time may have come because he had nowhere else left to go.

Preaching was never meant to be a performance for the put-together.
It was always meant to be a lifeline for the brokenhearted.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
โ€” Psalm 34:18

If that verse reflects the heart of God โ€”
it should reflect ours too.

Not just in what we say.
But in how we say it.
The tone we carry.
The eyes we preach with.
The gentleness we refuse to trade for applause.

When we stand to speak in His name โ€”
we don't just deliver the words of God.

We are called to reflect the heart of God.

And the heart of God โ€”
has always been closest
to the ones the world overlooks.

Preach to those people.
Every time.
Without exception.

Because that hospital room?
It's in your congregation every single Sunday.

And if we're honest โ€” Christians are some of the worst at it.

But here's the thing. If you've given your life to Jesus, you have every reason to be thankful

Good situation or bad. Loving family or broken one. Healthy or hurting.

If you're a believer, you are part of the family of God. And your first job โ€” before anything else โ€” is to be thankful.

Why?

Because as Jesus walked toward the cross, knowing what was coming โ€” His mind was on ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚. On your salvation. On bringing you home.

That's not a small thing. That's everything.

We're very good at accepting salvation.
We're not very good at living like we have it.

Start there today. Just thankful.
