To hotspot or not to hotspot?

I recently switched to Xfinity for my home WiFi after being a Comcast business customer since we moved into our office in Castle Rock, CO. (Xfinity is the residential brand for Comcast, so I will refer to both Xfinity and Comcast in this little blog post.

Are you looking for the Chiefs game? If you are at home, it is streaming on Amazon Prime. If you want to watch it at your favorite bar or restaurant, you will find it at any restaurant that has DIRECTV Sunday Ticket. DIRECTV and Amazon made a deal to air the Thursday night games.

To our condo WiFi customers: internet is down in many areas of Angel Fire and Taos Ski Valley. We believe it is data center related, because there are major websites that are down right now too. Kit Carson says that it is a widespread outage outside of their network. Here is a way to check particular websites (if you have internet access!):

College Bowl time! I'd like to share an option for watching the games which are usually found on ESPN. Many of the condo properties that we service have commercial programming and sometimes properties do not subscribe to ESPN because it is an expensive commercial channel. If you (or a guest) need (yes, need, lol) ESPN, it is available to stream on Sling TV. You just need a smart TV or streaming device (we like Rokus), the Sling app, and a subscription. You can subscribe for as few as 7 days if you are having a football emergency.

WiFi systems and TV systems are down in Angel Fire and Red River due to the power outage. Systems are still up in the Taos Ski Valley.

Interesting. Google made a gamble with their construction methods and it didn't pay off. Ah, the quest for fiber!

An experimental process for more cheaply and quickly rolling out speedy fiber internet didn't pan out, forcing Google Fiber to pull out of Louisville.

Viasat satellite internet customers, there is an area wide outage right now. It is related to the CenturyLink outage. According to their support website, "CTL network outage causing gateway outage for all subscribers."
