"MSDi as a whole has been the perfect thing to fill my offseason. From the seemingly endless rehearsals and the scorching camps, it’s the best thing I’ve found so far. Since it’s my first season with the MSDi program, playing bass 5 was only natural, and I’ve fit into it well enough, I think. Setting up our show floor before and after practice can be hard, but it’s just one of those things you have to do; same with the truckloads and prop set up, but in the end, it all comes together perfectly to create the show we have now. I would love to see a very experimental show, something people haven’t seen, something to make everyone stop and watch. That’s also one of my goals for the fall season marching band, I want everyone to remember MSD for the right things and our accomplishments."

“I’ve done just about everything I can think of. When I was a kid, I played the piano, bass, guitar, sax, some others. Sang in Carnegie Hall for All-State chorus, was the number 3 ranked softball catcher in the state, used to do barrel racing and equestrian with my mom, a whole bunch of stuff. My family used to own a restaurant on Sample Road, and I’d been in that kitchen almost my whole life helping out and loved it. When I finally went to college, I realized that I either wanted to go for music or culinary and when I thought about what I saw myself doing and being told to do for the rest of my life, it was pretty easy to decide on culinary. I majored in baking and pastry and figured out I loved the science and all the little intricacies of it. I still do all the other stuff as hobbies, don’t get me wrong, but the important part was that even though I did a bunch of stuff I still figured out what I wanted to do and I’m happy with it. Wouldn’t hurt to have less paperwork, though. But if you’re worried about finding out what you’re gonna do, don’t be. You’ll be fine.”

"I was born in Hungary, where fencing is a much more popular sport. I started fencing because one of my closest friends decided to do it, and she asked me to start with her. This was in 3rd grade, and ever since then, I have become a much better fencer, and it’s so much fun. There are three different types of weapons fencers use: epee, foil, and saber. I use the epee in which to score a touch, you need to hit the other person with the tip of the blade, and you can hit anywhere, unlike with the other two. At first, I was in the beginner's group, where we would only use plastic epees to get the basics down. I had to do this for a year; then, eventually, I moved on to the advanced group, where we actually got to fence with all of the equipment. This was also around the time when I started going to smaller tournaments. After I moved here, I went to South Florida Fencing Club, where everyone is so nice and very good at fencing. Overall, I think fencing is a great sport, and anyone can do it."

"While this is my second year as a teacher here at MSD, I am not new to this campus. I was part of the [MSD] graduating class of 1993. Always staying local, I worked at Coral Springs Middle for over twenty years. I served as their Literacy Coach, but never felt terribly effective in that role and greatly disliked all the behind-the-scenes paperwork such a job entailed. I returned to the classroom the same year my eldest daughter became a freshman here, so the class of 2026 is quite special to me. I recall many sophomores from their Park Trails days when I volunteered for class parties and taught Meet the Masters lessons. As a sideline soccer mom, I added Coach to my resume by assisting with the Lady Eagles JV team when another more qualified coach’s employment fell through at the last minute. I now have a whole new appreciation for the challenges team coaches face. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to return to the classroom where I spend days reading great literature and having insightful discussions with today’s youths that only leave me slightly concerned for the future."

“I’ve loved music for literally all my life. I’ve just always known that I wanted to be a musician. I’ve been signed up in a music program called School of Rock for about 7 years, and while I’m not the best, I became much more confident in my abilities as a singer. During quarantine, I started writing songs. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my art, and it hinders my ability to grow. However, I know that before I make good art, I have to make bad art, and while I’m developing my skills as a songwriter, I’m going to write bad songs. That isn’t an issue, though. When I’m writing songs, I am able to express myself in a new way. I can be creative in an entirely new field. Art has always been important to me, and I already know that this is how I add my mark on the world.”

"From the time I could move, I have always been dancing. Whether it was copying my sister’s rehearsals or in my room by myself, I was always moving to the beat of the rhythm. When I was five, I joined a Bharatnatyam class (a form of Indian classical dance) and fell in love with connecting dance as an art form to my culture. By participating in these classes, I was not only learning how to dance but also listening to captivating stories about my Indian heritage and learning how to convey these stories to others through artistic expression. As I grew older and performed for more diverse audiences, I was inspired to pick up choreography. Choreographing for events like the Parkland Library’s Diwali show and MSD Spanish Club’s Multicultural show, along with my co-choreographers, was such an amazing experience and helped teach me that dance can be used to meld a variety of diverse perspectives and backgrounds into one representative dance, helping to convey the beauty of South Asian tradition and culture. As I prepare for my arangetram (dance graduation), I can confidently say that, after 13 years of dancing, dance has helped instill confidence within me and that the art form has helped me find a profound connection to who I am and aspire to be."

"I started School of Rock when I was in seventh grade, and it completely changed the trajectory of my life. In middle school, I was a quiet kid; I had a hard time socializing and kept to myself. After joining School of Rock, I found the confidence I always knew I had. I befriended the loveliest people I had the pleasure of meeting, and through the stage, I found my voice, my sense of self and my style. I joined School of Rocks houseband in which their top students form their own band. Houseband has given me the most amazing opportunities to travel and play in unique places for different causes and all sorts of people. I have a new understanding and appreciation for music of all genres and get to push myself out of my comfort zone to improve every single day. Through School of Rock, I have been given many opportunities, like singing the national anthem, duet gigs and forming my own band. Things I am forever grateful for. School of Rock will always be my second home."

"When it was time to begin my high school career, I knew that Peer Counseling was something I would be interested in after taking it for two years in middle school. I began high school during the pandemic so my freshman year was online, but Peer Counseling made the transition much easier. The Peer Counseling program has been so beneficial to me these past three years. Because of the friends I have made through Peer Counseling and the program’s amazing leader, Coach Rauntree, I have been able to step outside of my comfort zone and find my voice. After listening to one of my peers do the Seven Habits announcement last year, I built up the courage to ask Coach Rauntree if I could try it. Now, when Coach asks me to make an announcement, I don’t even think twice. Peer Counseling was already building my public speaking skills but reading the Seven Habits announcement has taken it to a new level."

"For me, this all started with my obsession with cars. Since I was born, my earliest memories are of cars. My liking for cars led me to do research on how the top drivers in the world make it to F1, and I saw they all started off with karts. For me, the highlight of my week almost always is being able to go to the track and drive. Many people think I drive the rental karts at places like K1 Speed or Boomers, but the ones I drive are completely different. They are real machines that even F1 drivers return and train ahead of their season. I compete in the X30 senior division, which is among the most competitive in the US, and I race for the Vice racing team using a Kart Republic chassis. This sport is something only a few understand as we drive hours to the track just to drive in circles all day, but it’s something truly special."

“I have never not done it all. I have always loved being involved in so many different things, and a lot of people always ask me how I have the time to do everything. In my college essay, I actually self-proclaimed myself as a time traveler powered by my passion even with a total knee reconstruction, which hasn’t stopped me from doing the things that I love and helping other people and making the world a better place. For instance, I am an avid member of DECA, TV production, National Honor Society, class of 2024, sports media, MSD football, cheer and so much more.”

"I always loved Bowling as a kid and I knew I enjoyed it. My parents taught me as a young kid, and they were bowlers themselves. I knew I wanted to do it for them but also for me. I am on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas' bowling team, and I was also named one of the honorees for the Sun Sentinel second team. Being named as one of the Broward County second-team honorees means that I have come far and all my hard work has paid off. As I am only a sophomore, I hope to continue in the competitive field of bowling and possibly do it after high school as well."
