It is with great sadness we announce the death of our longtime publisher, Fred Hall, at the age of 80. Mr. Hall, who has been the publisher at Mid Valley Publishing since 1995, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 26. Details are forthcoming regarding a memorial service.

The city of Parlier is celebrating its Centennial anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Earl Ruth Park, J and First streets in Parlier.
Here is the Centennial Celebration schedule:
• A parade begins at 11 a.m., and will include families who have been in the city for 100 years – including the Parlier family.
• A luncheon will follow at noon, when the families will be honored. Also honored in memory at the lunch will be Chief Warrant Officer Mark Bristol, who died in August 2019 and was the NJROTC instructor at Parlier High School; and Michael Del Puppo, Fresno County Fire Protection District president who died Aug. 7 of this year. Both are being celebrated for their contributions to the city.
• There will be a carnival, food and music throughout the day in the park. The fireworks show will begin at 8 p.m.

A "Welcome Home Celebration" will be held in Sanger on Saturday, Sept. 18 honoring the Pro Football Hall of Fame Coach and Sanger Native

Flores, who was the first Latino quarterback in professional football and the first Latino to coach a Super Bowl champion when he led the Raiders to NFL titles in the 1980 and '83 seasons, finally made the Hall of Fame cut on his third time as a finalist

After falling short in heartbreaking fashion in 2020, he again received nomination as the lone coaching finalist for 2021

As it turns out, Flores actually knew he made the Hall of Fame the week before the Feb. 6 announcement

That's when David Baker, the president/CEO of the Pro Football Hall in Canton, Ohio, showed up at the front door of Flores' Coachella Valley home

So Sanger's favorite son had to remain tight-lipped for a week until the NFL Honors show the night before the Super Bowl

Congratulations once again to Tom Flores, and yes he will be here for the celebration!

Final score from Parlier High Stadium, the Panthers drop a 34-0 decision to visiting McLane High from Fresno. Next up for Parlier is a 7 p.m. home game Friday, Aug. 27, against Yosemite High.

Lorena Tapia called it one of the most dark and depressing periods in her life

Tapia, a Parlier native said that in 2014 she gave birth to her stillborn daughter whom she named Loreal

“I was actually 34 weeks, the outcome of that, the only medical reason given was that the umbilical chord was wrapped around her neck, there was really nothing else wrong with her,” she said.

Tapia wanted to take her experience and turn it around to help other women who have also been through the same thing, so she started Project Loreal in honor of her daughter and to bring awareness to the loss that is not often talked about 🤍

The prep football season opens tonight for the Parlier High Panthers, who host McLane High of Fresno in a 7:30 p.m. varsity kickoff at Parlier High stadium. The Panthers have a new head coach in Drew Halstead, who coached at Immanuel High in Reedley the past two seasons.

The family of 52-year-old, Silvano Mendoza was out at for Parlier’s National Night Out event yesterday evening asking for justice for their father

Mendoza was shot and killed in the early morning hours of June 13 as he got ready for work, the case remains unsolved

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno County Sheriff's Office at (559) 600-8204

National Night out is an annual community building campaign that promotes police / community partnerships
