Shots Fired Leads to Multiple Arrests and One at Large
From Parsons Police Department

On Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, at approximately 11:11 a.m., Parsons Police officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 200 block of McKnight Drive. The 911 caller reported that a male subject was armed with a handgun, had fired several shots, and was subsequently tackled by multiple individuals prior to officers’ arrival.

When officers arrived, they encountered an active physical altercation involving several subjects. Officers immediately intervened, separating those involved and securing the area. A Ta**us 9mm handgun was located nearby with the slide locked back and no ammunition remaining.

One adult male, identified as Jesse Graninger, was detained and transported for medical evaluation due to visible injuries sustained during the confrontation. Another adult male reported possible injuries, but did not display visible wounds at the scene. Because one suspect is a juvenile, identifying information is being withheld in accordance with Kansas law, which allows only the release of charges associated with juvenile offenders.

Preliminary information indicated the disturbance began inside an apartment where several individuals confronted Graninger regarding an ongoing domestic dispute. They held Graninger in a bedroom against his will and would not let him leave. During the confrontation, Graninger escaped and was pursued by the juvenile and one adult, prompting a struggle outside the residence where Graninger produced a firearm and fired multiple shots while being battered.

Witnesses reported multiple gunshots during the altercation as well. Officers later recovered additional evidence from inside the home, including a green airsoft pistol and a loaded shotgun located in an attic crawl space. Surveillance footage from the apartment complex remains pending as property management was not immediately available.

Detectives conducted interviews and reviewed available evidence, determining that two individuals were primary aggressors in the assault on Graninger—one adult male, who was arrested for aggravated battery, and one juvenile male taken into custody and screened by Juvenile Intake.

The juvenile faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, criminal restraint, intimidation of a witness, and criminal use of a weapon. Graninger was released after it was determined he was not legally prohibited from possessing a firearm. Detectives are continuing to investigate and are working to identify a second adult male involved in the incident.

Chief Robert Spinks stated, “This was a chaotic and extremely dangerous situation that could have easily resulted in more serious injuries or loss of life. I commend the responding officers for their rapid actions under pressure and their professionalism in restoring order. We ask the public to allow our detectives the time needed to thoroughly complete this investigation and to come forward with any information that may assist.”

Lieutenant Kyle Wiford added, “Our officers did an exceptional job de-escalating a volatile multi-suspect incident. Incidents involving fi****ms and group violence are some of the most complex we face. The public’s cooperation is critical, and we urge anyone with video, photos, or firsthand knowledge to contact us immediately.”

This continues to be an ongoing investigation, and citizens are encouraged to “See It, Hear It, Report It.” All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at [email protected].
