Surprised my goth girlfriend with dinner at a real Mexican church reconstructed as a restaurant. The pulpit is now the bar. The baroque pews are the seats. Stained glass on every wall. Flickering Santa Maria candles. Dark cobblestone floors. The Chef JosĆ© Cepeda grew up in Puebla cooking with his grandmother and now he’s serving huitlacoche tamal and Oaxacan fondue in what used to be a house of God.

The dining room is divided into heaven, purgatory, and hell. You pick where you sit.

This is inside the Lafayette Hotel in North Park. The same hotel with the Tarzan pool, the 24/7 diner, and the bowling alley.

Jurassic Park meets Disney inside a downtown San Diego coffee shop. This place operates as a cafe by day and a cocktail bar by night and the whole time the decor is in a full fever dream. Soyrizo breakfast tacos, hashbrowns with two sauces, a hot chai negroni, a lavender-infused coffee tea.

threw America’s largest dachshund festival right on the beach, free to attend, with the Dachshund Derby races, costume contests, adoption booths, food trucks with vegan and GF options, vendor pop-ups, and hundreds of the world’s most dramatic little dogs running full speed into the sand. Every dog is welcome, not just wieners, but let’s be honest, the wieners run this event. Follow along if your idea of a perfect Saturday involves racing sausage dogs at the ocean.

.cafe owner V.R. Venkataraman has lived eight lives: jazz stages in India, math school, medical school, Berklee College of Music lectures, and THEN retirement landed him in a kitchen. The Maharaja burrito is what he built in that kitchen: turmeric rice pilaf, saag paneer, lentils, and a secret sauce that Insider named the #1 burrito in California. It also hit #12 on Yelp’s Top 100 Restaurants in the entire U.S.
And yes, it’s fully vegetarian.

This restaurant turns your entire table into a projection mapped canvas and serves you a 7 course meal inspired by 7 legendary artists. Each act is a different painter. Michelangelo. Banksy. Picasso. DalĆ. Van Gogh. You’re solving riddles, painting canvases, and eating fine dining all at once. This is 2.5 hours of pure art, food, and theater šŸ–¼ļøāœØ

This place has over 44 MILLION cards and I still can’t wrap my head around it. is not a card shop. It’s a full blown museum that you can actually buy from. We’re talking showcase after showcase of insanely valuable slabs, walls of sealed product from every era, and an inventory so deep they have cards you forgot even existed. NBA, NFL, MLB, WWE, PokĆ©mon, F1…if it’s been printed on cardboard, it’s in here.

But here’s the part that got me. They have MASSIVE catalogs of cards you can just dig through starting at crazy low prices. You could spend hours flipping through bins and walk out with a stack for almost nothing. Whether you’re a serious collector hunting grails or you just want to see what all the hype is about, there is genuinely nothing like this anywhere.
They even have a permanent PSA submission center inside the store. This is the final boss of card shops.

They serve you the EXACT food from the movie as you watch it on screen 🤯🐸

turns Princess and the Frog into a full blown multi course dining experience and the New Orlean’s food is BOMB. Stuff like Chicken Andouille Gumbo in Tiana’s dead dad’s pot, Tiana’s golden Beignets dusted in powdered sugar, Jambalaya packed with Cajun heat, and King Cake to close it all out. Every single dish drops right as the scene plays on screen. 5 dishes and 2 themed drinks. This is as close as you can get to going to Tiana’s Place
