"Having relied on these teaching vignettes in my own longitudinal child development course for pediatric residents I was particularly pleased to find that Dr. Fox has continued the project, now very much in partnership with her children, for another decade covering middle childhood and adolescence."

This DVD program is about children who experience multiple losses and separations in early life because they find themselves in the foster care and adoption systems. In this production there are no adults, or even adult voices, to be seen or heard.

The script distills what children would teach us if they had the chance, about what being moved around feels like, how and why their behavior begins to change, and what happens to their availability for new attachment. The video ends with a few suggestions on how we might be able to do it better.

Put this culturally sensitive, field-tested intervention guide and video to work to show caregivers how to become aware of their child's early communicative behavior. Specifically designed for use with infants, preschoolers, and young children with multiple disabilities who haven't yet developed a functional communication system. It can also be used with older children who have not yet developed intentional communication.

Promoting Learning Through Active Interaction (PLAI) teaches caregivers how to

Recognize their child's early communication cues
Learn to identify their child's likes and dislikes
Establish a predictable routine as a context for intervention
Use turn-taking game to teach their child to initiate interaction
Five modules identify clear objectives and goals, describe specific strategies and activities and offer practical suggestions for service providers using the materials with caregivers. To better demonstrate key strategies for caregivers, the video depicts interactions between children with multiple disabilities and their families in natural settings.

The Guide includes reproducible handouts to record the child's initial communication abilities and photocopiable recording sheets to help monitor progress - and they are available in both English and Spanish.

Early interventionists, early childhood educators, speech & language pathologists, social workers, physical therapists, and psychologists will use this guide, and the corresponding video, to help families encourage their children's early communication skills.

The complete curriculum includes the 208 page Guide, 27-minute video (DVD) with the 27-page Viewing Guide that includes discussion questions, learning activities and suggestions for use.

In this video, influenced by the philosophy of Magda Ge**er, infants from three months to two years demonstrate the stages of gross motor development.

The babies in this program are allowed to reach the known milestones of gross motor skills: turning, crawling, sitting, walking, etc. They do this on their own time and in their own way without adult help or teaching.

In this video, influenced by the philosophy of Magda Ge**er, infants from three months to two years demonstrate the stages of gross motor development.

This DVD program includes eleven vignettes that allow the viewer to observe how teachers can use their relationships with children which occur naturally in early-childhood settings to enhance children's emotional social and cognitive development.

The video and accompanying guide present the philosophy behind the approach identifying specific methods used by teachers in the video and explaining to viewers how such an approach might be useful in their own work with children. The video contains spontaneous footage of teachers and children interacting so that the viewer can see how the ideas and concepts presented play out in an actual classroom situation. Much of the focus is on the challenges the children face as the challenges themselves are catalysts for learning.

The DVD is presented in three segments: the first focuses on the individual child the second on social relationships and the third on cognitive development. The entire video can be viewed at a single sitting or in individual segments for closer observation and examination of the specific teaching language and methods used

This DVD program features vignettes that allow the viewer to observe how teachers can enhance their students' emotional social and cognitive development.
