This detailed roadmap visualizes a potential decade-long expansion for the "Stranger Things Universe," a strategy that aligns closely with Netflix's known ambitions for its most valuable intellectual property.
We know that Stranger Things: The First Shadow is serving as canonical prequel lore on stage, proving the creators are invested in exploring the deep history of Henry Creel and Hawkins long before 1983.
Furthermore, the Duffer Brothers have officially confirmed that an animated series set in this universe is in development, alongside another undisclosed live-action spinoff that they described as being "very different" from the original show.
Given the untapped depth of the show's mythology—from the real-world inspirations of Project MKUltra that spawned Eleven, to the unexplored corners of Dimension X—moving into specialized limited series or character-focused procedurals (like a Nancy Wheeler mystery) is a logical next step.

✅ What is 100% Legit (Confirmed)
Stranger Things: The First Shadow (2025): This is a real, canonical stage play currently running on Broadway (it opened April 2025). It is the official origin story for Henry Creel (Vecna) and includes young versions of Joyce, Hopper, and Bob Newby.
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 (2026): Netflix has officially confirmed this animated spinoff. It takes place between Seasons 2 and 3 (the winter of 1985) and features the original characters (voiced by a new cast) fighting new monsters.
The "Untitled" Live-Action Spinoff: The Duffer Brothers have confirmed they are working on a live-action spinoff. However, they have explicitly stated it will feature new characters and a different decade, not the main Hawkins gang.
