The menorah lights shone extra bright on the final night of Hanukkah at the “Chanukah on Main Street” celebration featuring a giant ice menorah in Brightwaters last Friday, Dec. 21. The Islip Town Board invited Rabbi Shimon Stillerman of Chabad of Islip Township to speak not only about the celebration itself, but also on the tragedy of the Bondi Beach shooting in Australia.

The Bay Area Friends of the Fine Arts gallery hosted its annual holiday sale to a steady stream of customers, with 12 member artists each selling original works, from prints of photos and paintings to postcards, bags, and even stickers. Celebrating its 28th year, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet held its annual Holiday House Tour on Dec. 7 from noon to 4 p.m., offering a glimpse of Islip from the past.
