Our Story

GreaterBayShore seeks to be the premier community information resource for Bay Shore, Brightwaters and the surrounding hamlets from Robert Moses Causeway to Heckscher State Parkway. The site has a daily newspaper feel, with a focus on quality writing. But the emphasis here is on features and community news — as opposed to crime and politics. Greater Long Island Media Group’s first site, GreaterPatchogue.com, launched on July 1, 2015, then expanded in 2016 and 2017 with three additional sites out of the Bay Shore, Babylon and Port Jefferson areas, including GreaterBayShore.

Founder Michael White was previously a staff reporter at the New York Post and the Daily News. He later edited two weekly newspapers on the East End of Long Island.
