I want a veil but not sure what to choose
Hi! I’m getting married in October, and I already have my dress picked out and tailored.
However I’m unsure what kind of veil would look best with my dress
I plan on wearing my hair down and curly
The last photo is a reference photo of a model with the kind of hair I would plan on curling my hair like but with no flowers in my hair
Any suggestions? Let me know if you need more info!

Help me choose a dress
When I saved after cropping and adding , my skin tone came out super saturated. I added the 3rd picture, without a number, for a better representation of my skin color and dress #1 color. Dress #2 is bright ("diamond") white.
My husband and I disagree on which looks better. I won't comment any further to avoid swaying. :)

Which dress for my body type? (Online ordering for my elopement!)
Eloping on a mountaintop / lake-beach in 3 weeks!
Pic 1: I would wear off-shoulder but I am concerned the dress might “overpower” me. I think it’s a really cool dress Pic 2: Love the dress, but am concerned maybe the neckline will make my chest seem droopy? (Model has small chest but I am a size D chest) Pics 3&4: no big concerns with this dress, I like the style, just maybe it doesn’t have a whole lot of personality (but maybe that’s a good thing because then the attention is on me, not on a dress that overpowers me) Pic 5: the hair piece I purchased :). I have long hair now unlike what is shown in the next pics of me. Will have beachy waves Pics 6-8: pictures of me / my body type. I have a hourglass figure with a slight pear shape. 5’7”

Can/should I add a slit?
Hello all!
A bit about my upcoming plans— in September 2026, my fiancé and I are having a “wee” wedding the Scottish Highlands (11 people total). I will have 2 dresses: a ceremony dress (still looking), and an adventure photography session dress (this one).
I very spontaneously bought this dress for an insanely reasonable price at an off-the-rack shop, envisioning it as my adventure photography dress. It fits me almost perfectly, and I need only basic alterations. While I always envisioned fitted dresses, I thought that this a-line style would allow me to move freely while hiking in the mountains. I am curious if anyone thinks it would be possible to add a slit to the gown, so that during the photo session the photographer could get some shots of my hiking boots/garter that I intend to wear? I also feel that a slit would show my lower body and allow me to look less poofy. FYI, the dress does have multiple layers.
After lurking on this sub, it seems as though the majority of ladies do NOT like a slit, but for the purpose I want my dress to serve, would it be appropriate/attractive on this gown… or even possible?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this & give me any advice you may have!
Bonus question: if any of you have had adventure elopement photo sessions done, what style dress did you go with and what was your experience with it like?

Hairstyle help pls
Hi! I created a new account for this just in case lol
From the moment I got my dress I was thinking half up/half down for my hair. I just got it back after alterations and was testing different hairstyles. I didn’t think I liked my hair up but I think a high/chignon bun elongates everything. My hair stylist likes the half up/half down and the high pony but I think the high pony would look good, but only if it’s big enough if that makes sense. I’m also wearing a veil, so not sure of that impacts the input.
I appreciate any thoughts!

Classic style, went whimsical and now concerned
I always wear classic, understated, Scandinavian-style, clean cut clothes. I fell in love with the romantic style dresses and found a beautiful one for my wedding (dress 1). My other dress for my government civil ceremony is somewhat classic/boho style lace (dress 2). I’m regretting a bit not going with my usual clean cut, classic but albeit a bit less exciting look. I was thinking of maybe a cape that covers the front and runs long down the back instead of a veil for the wedding might tone it down a bit at least for the ceremony before the dinner/dancing. Any advice?

feeling doubtful about my dress :((
may 2026 bride here. we are having a garden wedding.
throughout my entire life and trying on dresses, I always believed myself to be a ball gown bride, and it was proven to be true as I almost picked out of multiple ball gowns for my dress…. Until I saw this one. this dress seems to be a mix of ball gown and fitted. I absolutely loved how I felt in it and it was really the only one that gave me the “this is the one” feeling. I even got emotional saying yes in it. I felt amazing in it.
however, I find myself looking back and comparing it to the runner up dress, and almost feel sad and regretful for not getting the other dress. I do have body dysmorphia, so I know that is attributing to all of this as well, but I know that I am working hard to lose weight prior to our wedding.
what do you guys think? It’s not like I can do anything about it anyway, since it’s non refundable. all of these photos are prior to any alterations. just any help or support or opinions would be greatly appreciated 😭

Criticism/feedback help!
I got the pinning concept for the appliques on the skirt from the designer and I dont know how to put my finger on what bothers me about it, but it looks very cheap and unflattering to me. Maybe since its not fully pinned along the waist? Is it the silk that's the issue?
Any suggestions on better placement or how to make it look more flowy?

How bad is the bunching in my dress?
Hi! New to this sub because I really need objective advice.
This is my reception dress that I had handmade by a local seamstress. It is made of peau de soie.
This is the final alteration and I am just not sure what to make of the bunching in the back. She told me it’s a natural effect of the material, but I can’t help but feel like it looks unflattering and like it doesn’t fit properly. It actually is really comfortable and fits like a glove, it just doesn’t look smooth like pictures I’ve seen of similar dresses.
My friends and family have assured me that it looks great and the bunching isn’t that noticeable, and that regardless it’s indeed a natural part of having a tight fitting dress made of this fabric.
What do you think? Should I ask to get it altered again? I really don’t want to as the wedding is in 11 days. I do think she’d have time to alter it again because I live in a small town, but it just seems like such a hassle and headache I’d rather avoid.
Thank you for any input!

Which dress do you like?
I'm a very simple girl and I love the first dress, I just feel like maybe it's a bit dated, very 2013ish? It's also a lot cheaper then the second dress (about 2k more then the 1st) and I know it's something I'm only going to wear for a few hours so I don't want to break the bank, but at the same time I'm feeling like maybe I should do something out of my comfort zone like the second dress? I like how both flatter my figure, I'm just really lost. I'm not in live with either of them but I dont really have the time to find something I'm "in love with."

Unfortunately I'm infinitely indecisive 😭
Hello everyone! I have picked out my dress but want sleeves to go with it. Unfortunately, I can't seem to pick a set I like. Luckily, the staff at the bridal boutique is so awesome and hey modeled them for me since we live 6hrs away. What do y'all think? The first set is a bishop style and the second is a bell style (like a fit and flare).

We are upcycling and repurposing this year’s Festival of Thrift in response to 2020… an extraordinary year full of unforeseen challenges and hardships for all of us.
After weeks of careful consideration we have come to the decision, along with our great friends and partners at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, that holding a large-scale festival in Kirkleatham will not be possible this year.
However, although our Festival of Thrift event scheduled to take place in Kirkleatham on September 12 and 13 2020 has been officially cancelled, in our true thrifty style, we will instead be going ahead with a repurposed Festival that has had a socially distanced makeover for 2020.
Sharing, creating, learning and building a sustainable community together are more relevant than ever. We have been inspired by how our communities have adapted to our new way of living and we want to harness some of that creative sustainable spirit and share it with the world.
So, in September we will still be celebrating, albeit from afar, but with our usual creative flair. We hope that, wherever you are, you will all join us to share, create, learn and enjoy in an alternative way.
As with any great upcycling project there is quite a lot of work being done in the background before the big reveal so - Watch This Space!
We would like to thank all of you for your patience and understanding and we ask you to keep following our social media and communications so we can continue to update you on the progress of our latest exciting project.
We will thrift again…
Warmest wishes and love from the Festival of Thrift Team
