💣 Recently I sat in a meeting where I witnessed two co-workers going back and forth making their arguments deciding if their co-worker was in fact "toxic".

It's safe to say neither side convinced the other side and we were stuck.

So I left them with more questions.

💡 Is this person's behavior aligned with the company values?

💡 Are they meeting the expectations set for their job description?

🧨 You might not agree on what's toxic and what's not BUT more than likely you can find common ground as you identify their words and actions and if they match the kind of team you want to be!

Boundary setting can be a daunting task because even after you say "no" or even "maybe" you are left with feelings of guilt.

Wondering if they are disappointed or if they are secretly annoyed at you or even mad at you. It can feel easier to just say yes and deal with the resentment later.

Guilt today moves you towards growth.
Resentment down the road continues the cycle.

If you are a high performance team (as we all strive to be) we hope to limit mistakes as much as possible, but because we are human mistakes will happen.

So...what if you normalized those mistakes?

💡 What if you cultivated a culture where your leaders weren't afraid to fail?

💡 Where they felt ok to say, "I messed up but this is what I learned."

💡 Where leaders didn't feel a need to shift blame at every mistake.
