These are just a few things I’ve overheard in my career that made me pause, insert a little imposter syndrome, then take a breath and realize:
they’re wrong, not me.
So I keep moving, keep pushing forward, and keep making changes—because it’s working.

✨ “Are you sure you want to do real estate? It’s a tough industry.”
(Not untrue… but necessary? Nope. I was built for this.)

✨ “I would’ve listed it higher.”
(Meanwhile we brought in multiple offers at that price and it appraised perfectly. Don’t come for my numbers lol.)

✨ “She’s mean.”
(No. I’m a girl’s girl. But go after my people or push my patience too far? My Southern charm might take a backseat.)

✨ “Why are you always on video?”
(Cut to them asking for video advice two YEARS later… and yes, I helped, because there’s room for all of us.)

✨ “Yeah, but what do you have to offer?”
(A lot. And the results speak for themselves.)

Year after year in markets where many agents quit I keep crushing goals by letting comments like these become fuel, not roadblocks. I don’t worry about competition. I see other agents even locally as peers.

If you want to make it in this industry (or any industry), remember:
These people will always exist. They don’t define you. They’re just not your circle.

Keep going. Keep growing. Keep showing them why you’re still here.

Me: “Okay, I have an idea… but hear me out first.”
Also me: I’ve already planned the reels, the full marketing campaign, the staging tweaks, the idea list for my photographer, and the entire vibe of the launch. Each home tells a different story and I take the job of telling it to heart EACH TIME.

At this point my clients usually brace for impact…
But at least it’s a good impact.

Because when your home hits the market with more views than the neighborhood average, more eyes than competing listings, and more buyers walking through the door that impact shows up right where it matters: the closing table.

I swear I was in marketing in a past life. It’s genuinely one of my favorite parts of this career.

“AI will make Realtors obsolete.”

Cool story.

Every slide in this carousel is something I personally handled for clients this year and believe me I could go on and on about more:
→ Late-night vendor calls and same-day repair quotes
→ Catching water damage the pretty photos “forgot” to mention
→ Holding firm when a buyer asks for an unrealistic pool redo
→ Winning in a multiple-offer scenario without being the highest offer
→ Giving real grace to clients who never wanted to leave their home
→ Walking sellers room-by-room through what actually gets them top dollar and then getting it

AI can write a cute checklist.
But it can’t read the room, protect your people, or fight for you in real time when it matters most.

AI is great for meal prep and grocery lists.
I’ll stick to managing the biggest move of your life.

I wouldn’t say I’m a hypocrite… but I cannot stand when someone replies to my polished and personalized ChatGPT email with their own ChatGPT copy paste email. Like did you even try?!
(You know who you are, Betty… and no, you do not normally use that many smiley faces 😁😁😁 or thumbs-ups👍👍👍.)

Listen, I love ChatGPT. I use it daily as a tool for my clients, to communicate with my kids teachers and help me create captions like this..... It is a great tool that helps me to communicate clearly, and to keep things efficient.
But here’s the thing: you have to TRAIN it to sound like you.

A few friendly tips from someone who’s seen one too many AI-robot replies:

✔️ Remove all the emojis you’d never use in real life

✔️ Proofread and revise (yes, multiple rounds!) until it sounds like you and not the bot version of you
✔️ Ask it to match your voice: friendlier, more professional, spicier… whatever the moment calls for
✔️ Give it direction when you’re unhappy, annoyed, confused, or need diplomacy you don’t currently possess
✔️ And for the love of real estate professionalism:
delete those double dashes before you hit send we are not speaking in Morse Code: A · — B — · · ·C — · —
ChatGPT should elevate your communication but never erase your identity.

Wife, mom of 3 amazing kids, Realtor and lover of all things OTP (Outside the Perimeter). It’s true there are some amazing things inside the perimeter too but I’m amazed at how much our community has evolved over the last 20 years in Roswell, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Cu***ng, Marietta etc especially. In all fairness Johns Creek isn’t even 20 years old yet but our area is ever evolving and changing while the feeling of local neighborhoods are still going strong. OTP has created all of these communities within their cities that allow residents to no longer have to travel ITP to find great restaurants, festivals, farmers markets, etc. We can have it all within arms reach. Even the new Braves Stadium is located outside of the perimeter..... Just barely but it counts ;-) ! Anyone who knows me will tell you how much I love living in my neighborhood and living on the East side of Roswell. Many of our neighbors say if there was a Kroger and gas station inside we would never leave the compound lol. My goal is to show you why more people are enjoying the OTP lifestyle. I can’t wait to give you ideas on new places to try, events going on and the occasional housing tip here and there (I am a realtor after all).
