What if we lived to promote and empower the human species? Would we look at the changes the planet is making and see opportunity to exploit and profit, or would we use what we know to modify our behavior for better sustainability?
Would we change anything knowing that the number of people that perish because they don't get enough to eat (15,000,000/year)?
Would we educate our children with the tools necessary to see the world through rational eyes and think logically, using reason to have productive conversations with these things in mind?
As humans, are we not caught up in our own world, often dismissing the increasing national debt, growing homelessness, and our waste impact on our planet?
What will we do? Is nothing or leave it to someone else, an answer? Lao Tzu, who is said to have lived nearly 2,500 years ago, shared a gentle wisdom of all existence: it is unseen, but not transcendent, immensely powerful yet supremely humble, being the root of all things. People have desires and free will (and thus are able to alter their own nature). Many act "unnaturally", upsetting the natural balance of the planet that is home to nearly 8 billion of us.
Is the balance upset? What do you do, what do you believe each of us can become, to better equip ourselves to return the balance of our species?
Balance means that less people die for frivolous reasons. Balance means alternative power is gaining popularity. Balance means we can sit down together, notice that something is not going the way of a sustainable existence, and implement a plan to correct it.
Balance is only an attempt to counteract an unwanted direction with ideas and actionable and reasonable plans. What will you do?
