Adelaide Herrmann's spring flower and Alexander Herrmann's ring used in his Gun Trick are back home after being viewed by thousands of visitors at the recent Mystery & Wonder Exhibition at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. The Exhibition may be over, but the magic continues on October 5th when the NYPL will host a book signing event to celebrate the launch of QUEEN OF MAGIC: THE WONDROUS, UNSTOPPABLE ADELAIDE HERRMANN. I have just returned from three wonderful weeks in Nova Scotia!

For the past six years, every NS trip has included Boomsky research, marketing events, and meet ups with descendants of Isaac Willis, The Great Boomsky. This time, though, I kept a low profile as I recovered from the burnout of a wonderful-but-exhausting Spring.

However, I did manage a dash into Truro to replenish stock of THE GREAT BOOMSKY at the Colchester Historeum and to have lunch next to the tribute to Isaac Willis at the Irving Big Stop Restaurant!

I wish I could have stayed longer! But now it's full steam ahead to next month's launch of my new book, QUEEN OF MAGIC: THE WONDROUS. UNSTOPPABLE ADELAIDE HERRMANN. (For more info, visit floatingladypublishing.com.)

EXCITING NEWS!!! I just received the Amazon/KDP proof of QUEEN OF MAGIC: THE WONDROUS, UNSTOPPABLE ADELAIDE HERRMANN! What incredible magical serendipity to receive it on July 22, exactly one year from the date that I checked into the former Hotel Arlington (Adelaide Herrmann's final residence) to write the Prelude to the book. July 22 is also the birthday of the late James Hamilton, my dear mentor to whom the book is dedicated.

I'm still waiting for the hardcover, full-color proof, arriving soon!

We have set the book's release date for September 21, 2026, with a launch party in Peekskill, New York. On October 5, the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts will be hosting a book signing.

It's hard to believe that THE GREAT BOOMSKY launched two years ago today!

So much has happened since, both wonderful and tragic.

The wonderful parts have been the fantastic reviews, the incredible awards, meeting so many of Boomsky's supporters (especially the many descendants of Isaac Willis, The Great Boomsky), and most of all, hearing from so many readers who've told me that they loved the book.

THE GREAT BOOMSKY was a winner or finalist of five awards: The Milbourne Christopher Literary Award, The Los Angeles Tribune Global Magicians Hall of Fame Literary Award, The Colchester Heritage Awards, Reader Views Gold Award (First Place - Performing Arts), and the Next Generation Indie Book Awards (Finalist - African American nonfiction). I am so honored and grateful for these recognitions.

Tragically, all this gratifying news was countered by the sudden passing earlier this year of Hiawatha Johnson Jr, Boomsky's greatest fan and contributor, who guided me in the book's writing and also wrote the Introduction. I am still processing his loss. I will write about him sometime soon.

Boomsky is about to be joined by a companion book, QUEEN OF MAGIC: THE WONDROUS, UNSTOPPABLE ADELAIDE HERRMANN. The adventure continues!

✨Margaret B Steele (Floating Lady Publishing) and I had the best time at the Magic Collectors Expo in New Jersey — signing books, laughing too much, and soaking up every wonderful moment with the most amazing historians and collectors. The fun facts flying around that dealers room — let's just say we learned a thing or two ourselves! The special tour of the NYPL The New York Public Library "Mystery & Wonder: A Legacy of Golden Age Magicians in New York City" was fabulous, Margaret's talk about Adelaide Herrmann was terrific. Happy anniversary Adelaide and Alexander Herrmann! They were married on the steps of New York's City Hall, officiated by Mayor Wickham, on March 27, 1875.
