We strive to maintain effective protection of life and property, by creating and maintaining safety in the community, reducing the hazard of the risk of fire through prevention strategies, pre determined plans, inspections, identification of potential problem areas and providing related services.

On Friday as part of our continuing medical education training (CME), the City of Yonkers Police Department ( )Emergency Service Unit brought by their METU (Medical Evacuation Transport Unit). This regional unit staffed by Yonkers PD ESU is an available resource to us here in Pelham and Pelham Manor.

The METU can hold multiple patients in the event of a mass casualty incident. The METU can also act as a rehab unit for members working at an incident. Members from Pelham PD ( ), Pelham Manor FD ( ) and Pelham Manor PD ( )were also in attendance to get an overview of the capabilities of this resource.

Thank you Yonkers PD ESU Captain Messar and ESU Officer Paramedic Allison for taking the time out of their day to bring this to us and for showing us the capabilities of the METU! Also thank you to our CIC Mark Baumblatt for coordinating bringing this training to our doorstep.

We would like to introduce the newest addition to our ranks, Firefighter Michael Dragone.

Firefighter Dragone, a Harrison native, brings a well-rounded background in emergency services. He served two years in law enforcement before transitioning to the fire service, where he has spent the past year, completing the Westchester County Career Fire Chiefs’ Academy in July 2025.

Firefighter Dragone has completed his first week of in-service training and will finish the remainder this week before joining his assigned group.

Last night at the Village of Pelham Board Meeting, our newest member, Probationary Firefighter Anthony Romano (Badge # 48), was officially sworn in.

Anthony has deep roots in the Pelham community and is a product of the Pelham Schools, graduating from Pelham Memorial High School in 2020. Anthony earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Sacred Heart University in 2024.

Anthony comes from a family of first responders. He is a third-generation firefighter his great grandfather served as a volunteer firefighter in Pelham, and his two uncles as career firefighters. His father is a retired Pelham Manor police officer, continuing a family tradition of public service.

Anthony began the Westchester County Career Fire Academy yesterday, where he will train for the next 21 weeks. The academy will challenge him physically and mentally, preparing him to serve the residents of the Village of Pelham.

At approximately 10:00 AM, Pelham Engine 5 responded alongside Mount Vernon Fire Department ( ) units to a fully involved motor vehicle fire on the Hutchinson River Parkway South.

Operating in the middle of the parkway with no immediate water supply, crews initially operated off their onboard water while Car 2351 coordinated additional resources, requesting Pelham Engine 4 and Pelham Manor Engine 1 ( ) to supplement water until a permanent source was secured. Due to a ruptured fuel tank, members transitioned to foam operations to safely control the fire and fuel runoff.

Strong coordination and communication between Pelham, Mount Vernon, Pelham Manor, Westchester County Police, and Safeway Towing ( ) allowed this incident to be brought under control safely and efficiently.

Teamwork at its best. 💪

Temperatures are continuing to drop and snow has been steady for the past 8 hours . With 8-12 inches of snow forecasted, we urge you to stay home if you do not have to be outside.

🍞🥛 Hopefully you stocked up on groceries today. If you have older neighbors be sure to check on them. Get the bread and milk!

🚗 If you have to travel please travel at a slower speed. Always be sure to keep a safe stopping distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.

❄️ If you are outside shoveling take frequent breaks. If you are experiencing chest pains or shortness of breath stop shoveling and call 911 immediately.

❄️ When shoveling be sure not to pile snow against dryer vents or heating vents.

As always we will be ready to respond to any of your emergency needs. We have made preparations to ensure we can get to you for the duration of the storm. Stay warm and stay home everyone. ☃️🚒

🎁 THANK YOU, PELHAM & PELHAM MANOR 🚒

Thank you to everyone who supported our Annual Joint Toy Drive. Your generosity helped bring holiday cheer to children who cannot be home for the holidays.

Members of the Pelham Professional Firefighters and the Pelham Manor Career Firefighters Benevolent Association proudly continued a 20+ year tradition, personally delivering over 400 toys to the young patients at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.

We were able to deliver toys with Santa directly to patient rooms spreading holiday cheer to those who can’t be home for the holidays.

A heartfelt thank you to the Child Life & Creative Arts Therapy Team at for helping make this possible.

Most importantly, thank you to our Pelham and Pelham Manor communities for keeping this tradition alive.

Our annual Toy Drive and Santa Visit was a huge success! 🎁🎅🎄

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and dropped off a toy your generosity truly makes a difference.

There is still time to donate!

We will be collecting toys at PFD HQ all month long. We’ll be delivering the first round to Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital ( ) next Saturday, but donations are welcome throughout December.

The members of the Pelham Professional Firefighters Local 2213 and the Pelham Police Benevolent Association want to extend a huge thank you to for generously donating an amazing Thanksgiving dinner to the on-duty crews at both the Police Department and Fire Department working this holiday.

The meal will be enjoyed together by the on-duty FD and PD crews, and your support truly means a lot to all of us.

When staffing is limited, every position on the fireground becomes even more critical and none more so than the pump operator who sometimes preforms the work of multiple people. The operator ensures that our crews on the line have the water they need, when they need it, no matter the scenario.

We emphasize training all of our newer firefighters to become proficient in securing a water source on their own whether it’s from a hydrant or relay. Being confident and capable behind the pump means our firefighters can transition quickly between roles while maintaining efficiency.

When seconds count on the fireground, and a skilled pump operator can make the difference between control and chaos. That’s why we continue to train, drill, and reinforce the fundamentals so all of our members are prepared for whatever comes next.
