Over the next couple of weeks we’re going to highlight some of the best moments from the 2024-25 school year. These include individual and team performances from our area team and athletes.
Next on our list is James Monroe upending Wyoming East’s three-peat bid in the Class AA quarterfinal.
Winners of the previous two Class AA titles Wyoming was hoping to win its third consecutive title. It’s matchup in the Class AA quarterfinal came against James Monroe, a team the Lady Warriors split with.
James Monroe came out ahead in the rubber match with a stifling defensive effort, holding Wyoming East without a field goal for nearly 10 minutes and forcing the Lady Warriors into 21 turnovers.
Dunlap sisters Ava and Mya combined for 30 points in a victory that snapped a string of six consecutive state championship games that featured Wyoming East.
