🕊️ ELDER VAVE LAID TO REST IN TONGA 🇹🇴

Elder Peiholani Kaumāvae Vave, a missionary from Tonga serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been laid to rest in his homeland following his passing on July 24, 2026, while serving in the Ghana Accra West Mission.

Elder Vave was remembered by fellow missionaries and Church members in Ghana for his kindness, dedication, faith, and love for those he served. His missionary service touched many lives and left a lasting impression on the people around him.

His remains were returned to Tonga on September 1, and funeral services were held on September 2, where family, friends, Church members, and leaders gathered to honor his life and service.

Among those in attendance were Elder Siale ʻEliesa of the Area Seventy, together with President and Sister Langi of the Tonga Nukuʻalofa Mission. They joined Elder Vave’s family and community in celebrating his life and remembering his faithful service.

Church leaders expressed their condolences to the Vave family, honoring Elder Vave’s missionary service as an example of faith, commitment, and discipleship.

🙏 Our thoughts and prayers are with the Vave family, his loved ones, fellow missionaries, and all those who mourn his passing.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21

🕊️ Rest in peace, Elder Vave. Your service and legacy will not be forgotten.

President Langi in his remarks quoted President Nelson, who said,

ʻʻThe most critical question we each must answer is this: To whom or to what will I give my life?ʻʻ

Elder Vave has chosen to give his life to the Lord and His work. These are our missionaries taking
his body home. His service continues on the other side of the veil 🤍🕊️🥺

🤝 A Helping Hand in Times of Need

The The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated 3,000 food packs to the City Government of Dagupan on September 2, providing much-needed assistance to residents affected by recent flooding.

Around 150 volunteers, many of them young people, came together to unload approximately 15,000 kilograms of rice and repack relief goods for families in need.

Their service is a beautiful reminder that true charity is about giving without expecting anything in return. The joy seen in the volunteers as they served demonstrated the power of selfless service and compassion.

Mayor Belen Fernandez expressed her gratitude to the Church and its volunteers for their continued humanitarian efforts and their willingness to help those in need.

When we serve others, we become instruments of hope.

A Day of Inspiration and Support at the FSY Conference

Day 3 of the Freetown FSY conference at Fourah Bay College was a truly memorable one! We were honored to welcome Mission President of the Sierra Leone Freetown Mission, who came to uplift and encourage our incredible youth.

We also received a very special visit from Chairman Kasho J. Holland Cole, the Chairman of the Western Area Rural District Council. As a dedicated community leader who is passionate about the development of young people, his presence was a huge boost to the participants.

The energy was high as the youth gathered to learn, grow, and strengthen their faith. The visit from these distinguished leaders was a testament to the importance of this conference for the rising generation.

A heartfelt thank you to President, Chairman Cole, and all the organizers for making this an unforgettable experience for the youth of Freetown
