Please join us in congratulating Billie Kay Coleman on her appointment as the new Director of the Victim Witness Program. Billie Kay brings over 15 years of dedicated service with the Sheriff’s Office, where she served as a Chief Dispatcher, E911 Director, and Emergency Services Coordinator for Lee County. Her extensive experience, knowledge of emergency response, and compassion for those in crisis make her an extraordinary fit for this position.

We’re also thrilled to welcome Patricia Mitchell as her part-time assistant. Trish likewise brings a strong background from the Sheriff’s Office, with valuable experience in the court system and working with trauma survivors.

This office, funded by a combination of state and federal grants, is officially transitioning from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for administration.

A special thank you to Sheriff Gary Parsons and his office for the many years they managed this important program with care and professionalism. While changes to grant structure and funding models prompted the shift in administration, the Sheriff’s Office remains an integral partner in this work, and we look forward to continued collaboration to support victims and witnesses in Lee County.

📢 News from the Town Manager

This morning, Town Manager Keith Harless met with Ballad Health leadership, Congressman Morgan Griffith, and Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger at Lee County Hospital to discuss concerns related to the new federal legislation and its potential impact on rural healthcare.

Following the meeting, we want to reassure the residents of Pennington Gap and Lee County that Lee County Hospital is not closing. Ballad Health CEO Alan Levine confirmed that the hospital remains stable and continues to provide high-quality care to our community.
